On November 6, 2024, KStarTrend reported that BTS' Kim Taehyung, well-known by his stage name V, became the most-searched K-pop star on Google Trends for October 2024. V was rated as the top search in 59 of 67 countries on Google Trends.

Despite not actively participating in promotional activities or projects due to his ongoing military service, the BTS idol pulled the greatest search traffic among K-pop singers on Google Trends. As per the publication, he generated massive traffic on the keyword "Most Searched K-pop Star" from October 1 to October 31, 2024.

Star News reported that the singer-songwriter was also chosen as the most-searched K-pop celebrity in Asia by Google Trends in 2021 and 2022. He became one of the most followed male pop performers globally and came in fourth place after Drake, Eminem, and Justin Bieber in 2024.

He ranked #12 among Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, and Billie Eilish as the most sought-after pop artists worldwide. As per Star News' report, Taehyung gained over 10 million views on an English-language page on Wikipedia, holding the record for the most views earned by a K-pop singer.

Kim Taehyung, aka V, released his debut solo album, Layover, on September 8, 2024, with the title track Slow Dancing. The album's six tracks showcase his artistic range, blending smooth vocals with jazz, R&B, and soul influences.

Other tracks were two pre-released singles Love Me Again and Rainy Days, two B-sides Blue and For Us, and the instrumental rendition of Slow Dancing. The album was a partnership between the Grammy-nominated singer and former ADOR CEO, Min Hee-jin. She was credited with shaping the album's distinct style, blending his artistry with minimalist, thought-provoking visuals and music videos.

Upon release, Layover debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, making Taehyung the second-highest charting Korean soloist. The Korea Times reported that Rainy Days topped iTunes charts in over 70 countries, including major music markets like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.


BTS' Taehyung enlisted in the South Korean military on December 11, 2023. Times Now reported that after completing his mandatory five-week military training, he graduated as one of the four Elite Soldiers out of 800 recruits on January 16, 2024. He

On January 18, he was deployed to the Army General Administration School to complete an additional two-week training to join the special forces—Special Duty Team (SDT). He was later deployed to the 2nd Army Military Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, also known as the "Double Dragons" SDT unit.
