BTS’ Kim Taehyung's latest digital single FRI(END)S wins the MVP for the K-Star Chart second season in 2024. On July 19, TOKYOFM POP-K TOP10 Friday announced the results of the 2nd quarter popularity poll for the K-star Chart MVP with the voting period from April 2024 to June 2024.

The BTS vocalist received love and appreciation from fans for his official solo song and has been taking over international music charts. He dropped FRI(END)S on March 15, 2024, and since then the song has dominated the K-Star Chart Top 10 of the Week for over 15 consecutive weeks.

Previously, the K-Star Chart's first season's MVP was revealed to be wherever u r by UMI featuring V which took place between January and March. This marked his second K-Star Chart MVP win this year in a row.

On July 7, the Layover singer received the Best Solo & Featuring award in the second season of K-Star Chart 2024. This category acknowledged his performance as a solo musician and the singer competed with solo male and female singers who released music between April and June.

Moreover, Slow Dancing from his first solo album Layover was given Song of the Year 2023 MVP award by K-Star Chart.

On March 15, BIGHIT MUSIC dropped BTS’ Kim Taehyung's English solo song FRI(END)S along with the official music video starring British actress Ruby Sear. V's latest song reached No. 1 on iTunes charts in over 100 countries, making it the first song to do so in 2024.

Upon its release, the song entered the top 10 of the Daily Top Song Global chart of Spotify at #7 with over 4,728,233 streams. The song has also surpassed 270 million streams on Spotify becoming the first song by a Korean solo artist to reach this feat in 2024.

On July 25, Kim Taehyung's FRI(END)S was listed on the 2024 Global Impact List South Korea by Spotify in the second spot. Meanwhile, the music video has also amassed 43 million views on YouTube.

The song also entered the Top 20 of the UK's Official Chart at number 13 marking his highest entry on the chart. Kim Taehyung's FRI(END)S also charted at No. 2 on the Daily Top Videos USA Chart of TIDAL, a music video streaming platform.

Besides this, in April 2024, all of his solo music videos entered the Top 20 of Daily Top Videos USA Chart: FR(IEND)S (2), Slow Dancing (7), Love Me Again (10), For Us (12), Blue (14), Rainy Days (15), Slow Dancing (FRNK) (17).

Furthermore, the music video took over the first spot on other charts like the Global Top Music Video Chart on YouTube, iTunes Music Video Chart in the United Kingdom, and Apple Music Top Music Videos in Japan.


About BTS’ Kim Taehyung's military service

The Slow Dancing singer began his military service on December 11, 2023, with his fellow bandmate RM. He completed his five-week basic training at Nonsan Training Center.

He was then posted at the Army General Administration School to take the additional three weeks of training to join the Special Duty Team. Kim Taehyung has been working as a member of the special military police unit.

The military police unit falls under the direct command of the 2nd Army Corps headquarters in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do province. BTS' V aka Kim Taehyung is set to be discharged from his national duties and return in 2025.
