On July 26, 2024, BTS' Min Yoongi, aka Suga, became the first Korean solo act to enter the Top 5 of the US Best-Selling Rap Albums. The K-pop artist's debut solo album, D-DAY, ranked at No. 4 on the chart amongst Eminem, Juice WRLD, and more.

The album came out on April 21, 2023, and sold over 118,000 copies in the United States. This achievement made him the first Korean solo act to rank on the chart in the last decade.

On May 4, 2023, D-DAY entered No. 1 on the Billboard's Top Rap Albums Chart. Following this, the album debuted at the top of Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart on May 6, 2023. Recently, on July 17, 2023, D-DAY debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

In December 2023, several global music magazines ranked the album's track, Snooze (with Ryuichi Sakamoto and WOOSUNG from The Rose). Music critics such as Paste and Genius ranked the track at No. 1 for its composition and lyrics. Other critics like Time Out, DAZED, Elle, Consequence, Los Angeles Times, and Rolling Stones lauded the album as well.

In May 2023, the album sold over 144,000 album-equivalent units, with 90% of pure CD sales in the United States. In Korea, the album sold over 1.07 million copies on the Hanteo chart on the day it came out. It surpassed BTS Jimin's previous record of 1.02 million FACE album copies of first-day sales on Hanteo.

In October 2023, Suga's Agust D Tour 2023 (D-Day Tour) became the highest-grossing tour by an Asian solo artist in US history. The D-Day Tour generated over $57.2 million by selling approximately 320,000 tickets at 28 concert shows in the US.

Earlier, in May 2023, his UBS Arena D-Day Tour concert in Belmont, New York, earned over $2.95 million in one night and over $5.94 million in two nights. Suga became the only Korean solo artist to achieve this feat.

The rapper-songwriter embarked on his first-ever world tour on April 26, 2023, in New York. After 28 shows spanning across North America, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea, he concluded his world tour on August 6, 2023, in Seoul.


In other news, Suga enlisted in the South Korean military on September 22, 2023. He will return in June 2025 after fulfilling 21 months of mandatory service.
