On Friday, August 23, BTS SUGA was spotted at the Yongsan Police Station for investigations regarding his recent DUI case. As he entered the police station, the idol was accompanied by his alleged lawyer. When images of him and the lawyer landed on the internet, netizens soon recognized him as the same lawyer who served former Super Junior Kangin for his DUI case.
The lawyer named Chae Jae-hoon, is from the BKL Law Firm, which is recognized as one of the largest law firms in South Korea. It's said to hold over 800 professionals in the field, including lawyers, prosecutors, etc. Cha Jae-hoon previously worked on the 2016 DUI case charged against the former Super Junior member, Kangin.
The idol was accused of crashing his car into a streetlight in front of a convenience store in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. This took place on May 24, 2016, at around 2 AM KST. Through a formal trial, the court sentenced the idol to pay a fine of 7 million won. The idol entered a hiatus soon after this incident, and three years later, Kangin left Super Junior in 2019.
An exclusive report from the Korean media outlet, Newsis, confirmed that Cha Jae-hoon will also represent BTS SUGA for his DUI case that landed on the internet on August 6. The idol was charged with DUI for driving an electric scooter under the influence from his studio to his house, which was approximately 500 meters apart.

On August 6, a police report regarding BTS SUGA's DUI case landed on the internet. Soon after this revelation, the K-pop idol released a statement explaining his stance. The idol stated he was leaving his studio after having drinks with a couple of his friends.
Since an electric scooter was the nearest form of transportation, he drove the same to get home. However, he also explained that he wasn't aware that it was illegal to drive an electric scooter under the influence. While no one was hurt during the incident, the idol fell in front of his house while making a turn.
As he was recovering from the fall, a group of nearby patrol police approached him and took a breathalyzer test on SUGA. When the test came out positive, he was charged with a fine and his license was revoked. However, there were also a few misunderstandings, the idol stated, regarding the conclusions of the case.
While he thought that the fine and his license revocation closed the case, the police explained that there was more to the case in terms of investigation. Regardless, the idol apologized for his actions and stated that he was sorry for disappointing his fans. On August 23, during SUGA's first appearance at the Yongsan Police Station for his initial round of investigations, the idol was questioned by media reporters.
Several Korean media reporters were gathered at the police station. Since the idol had no other entrance to enter the police station, he briefly talked to one reporter regarding the issue.
When a journalist asked how he felt about the incident, here's what he replied with,
"Firstly, I am very sorry. I am truly reflecting on having hugely disappointed many fans and many people. I will diligently undergo the investigations. Once again, I am sorry."
Other details regarding the case and its investigations are yet to be revealed.
