On Monday, August 19, The National Police Agency Commissioner General Cho Ji-ho said that BTS' SUGA would skip from the photo line and that he was summoned for further investigations regarding his DUI incident. Previously, there were speculations on whether he would be appearing for a photo line in front of the reporters for the case's investigation or if it would be a private event.
With the recent report from the National Police Agency, it was confirmed that the idol will be skipping the photo line as they wish to treat the idol with the same standards as other suspects.
"We plan to use the same standards as other existing suspects. We cannot create a photo line. We will proceed in the same way as the suspect summons," General Cho Ji-ho said at a press conference at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu.
The police are planning to investigate SUGA's recent DUI incident and the circumstances surrounding it. They reportedly aim to check whether there was an intention to downplay this incident.
"We are coordinating the schedule. We will investigate in detail the circumstances leading to his drunk driving. The investigation has not yet been conducted," a police officer said during the same press conference.
General Cho Ji-ho further said that SUGA's statement regarding the DUI case being closed was false. While the idol believed that paying a fine and his license being revoked was the end of the case's investigations, the General said it wasn't the case. He also explained that the misunderstanding might be because the idol was drunk and most likely didn't remember things.
"If we crack down on him, we are supposed to explain the remaining procedures, but we do not know why he made that statement because he was drunk and cannot remember."
All you need to know about BTS SUGA's recent DUI incident
On August 7, BTS' SUGA was charged with DUI after he was found driving an electric scooter/kickboard under the influence. The idol drove the electric scooter/kickboard to his house on the sidewalk, which was approximately 500 meters away.
However, he fell at his house's entrance after losing his balance. A nearby group of patrol police officers approached SUGA and took a breathalyzer test. When the test came out positive, the idol was charged with DUI, and his license was revoked. He later released a statement on Weverse explaining that an electric scooter/kickboard was the nearest form of transportation, and he chose it as his house was close by.
The idol's CCTV footage regarding the incident also landed on the internet through the Korean media outlet Dong-A Ilbo. BigHit Entertainment confirmed the same. His agency also released a statement conveying its apologies to those disappointed by SUGA.
