On July 15, 2024, BTS' rapper Min Yoongi, also known as Suga, achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the #2 spot on the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart with his solo album D-DAY.

This achievement ties him with his fellow bandmates RM and Jimin, whose albums Indigo and FACE, respectively, also hold the record for the highest-charting albums by a Korean soloist.

According to Billboard's list of the week's top-selling vinyl albums, Suga's D-DAY—the final installment of his trilogy under the moniker Agust D, secured the #2 position. This achievement places him ahead of renowned artists like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.

Here is the complete list:

  1. Amor Prohibido by Selena
  2. D-DAY by Agust D
  3. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan
  4. Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish
  5. The Tortured Poets Department- Taylor Swift

BTS' Suga, Jimin, and RM tie for highest-charting Vinyl Albums by Korean soloists with D-DAY, FACE, and Indigo

The first instalment of Agust D's trilogy began on August 15, 2016, with the mixtape Agust D. The second part followed in May 2020 with the mixtape D-2. The final part concluded with the solo album D-DAY, released on April 21, 2023.

For those unfamiliar, Suga's alter ego, Agust D, derives its name by reversing the letters to form DTSUGA, with "DT" standing for his hometown, Daegu Town, and "SUGA" being his stage name in BTS.

Despite currently serving in the military, the BTS rapper has achieved a significant milestone. He now joins his fellow bandmates RM, whose solo album Indigo, and Jimin, with his solo debut album FACE, also reached the highest rankings for vinyl albums on the Billboard chart among Korean solo artists in history.

Furthermore, D-DAY has made a return to this week's Billboard 200 Albums Chart following its vinyl release. This achievement marks the album officially surpassing TWICE's Nayeon's 'IM NAYEON' as the fourth longest-charting album by a K-Pop soloist on the Billboard 200, having remained on the chart for six weeks.

Currently, Suga is fulfilling his mandatory military service in South Korea. His expected discharge is scheduled for June next year, after which he will return to the spotlight with the group, once all members have completed their service.
