All you need to know about BTS SUGA's DUI case

On August 7, the 31-year-old K-pop idol and member of BTS, SUGA, was revealed to have been booked with DUI charges, otherwise referred to as driving under the influence. The idol soon released a Weverse message, explaining the situation and apologizing for his actions.

He stated he left his studio after having a few drinks with his friends and rode an electric scooter back home, as it was the nearest form of transportation. He also stated that he made this decision, as he was unaware that driving an electric scooter under the influence was illegal and that his house was approximately 500 meters away.

While no one got hurt during the incident, the idol fell off the scooter while taking a left turn in front of his house. When this was spotted by the nearby patrol police around 11:15 PM, they approached him and took a breathalyzer test. Since the test reportedly came out positive with a 0.227% blood alcohol content, he was charged with DUI.

The idol also apologized for his actions through the Weverse message. Here's what it read:

"There were no people or facilities damaged in this process, but I would like to bow down and apologize to everyone because it is my inexcusable responsibility. I apologize to everyone who has been hurt by my careless and wrong behavior, and I will be more careful with my actions so that this does not happen in the future.”

SUGA had to pay a fine, and his license was also revoked. Following the same, the police informed that they'd be treating this case similarly to the suspects. Therefore, the idol was informed to not participate in the photo line. A photo line is when celebrities stand in front of reporters and answer their questions during police investigations and other similar cases.

Fans and netizens are still awaiting the final verdict on the issue.
