On October 5, 2024, the South Korean media outlet StarNews reported that BTS' V's Layover LP version topped the Japanese Oricon Daily Album Rankings as soon as it was released in Japan. The record also ranked first in Amazon Japan's imported album sales ranking and latest imported album sales ranking.

For those unversed, the pre-orders for BTS' V's LP version or Layover Vinyl version began on August 20, 2024, and are scheduled for release through a gradual process from September 20, 2024. Interested customers can purchase the latest version from online and in-person music stores, including Weverse Shop.

In Japan, Layover's LP version sold out from websites, including BTS Official Japan Store and Universal Music Japan, on August 21, 2024, only one day after the pre-orders began in Japan. It was then sold out multiple times following its re-stock.


BTS' V was crowned as the only K-pop solo artist to enter the Oricon Bestselling K-pop Albums Top 10 chart

BTS' V's debut studio album Layover was released through BigHit Music on September 8, 2023. The pop and R&B record was produced by prominent artists, including Frankie Scoca, Freekind, Jinsu Park, Absent Chronicles, and Monro. It featured six tracks - Rainy Days, Blue, Love Me Again, Slow Dancing, For Us, and Slow Dancing (piano version).

After the record was released on September 8, 2023, it topped the first place on the Daily Album Rankings chart released by Japan's Oricon and sold over 221,491 copies on the first day of its release. The album's title track Slow Dancing further ranked number one on the Daily Digital Single Ranking. Subsequently, the tracks Blue and For Us ranked 4th to 6th positions, respectively, on the Daily Digital Single Rankings.

According to the outlet and Annual Ranking 2023, Layover ranked at the 16th position on the Album Ranking charts after it recorded over 247,826 copies, making BTS' V the first K-pop solo artist to achieve the highest ranking. He has also been named as the only K-pop solo artist to enter the Oricon Bestselling K-pop Albums Top 10 chart.

Additionally, the record ranked 19th and 5th on the Oricon Combined Album Ranking and West Music Album Rankings, respectively. BTS' V continued to showcase his popularity in Japan by ranking 12th on the Digital Albums ranking.


In recent news, BTS' V released his digital single FRI(END)S accompanied by a music video through BigHit Music. The idol enlisted for mandatory military service on December 11, 2023, alongside fellow group member Kim Namjoon.

After concluding five weeks of basic military training, Kim Taehyung entered into three weeks of additional training at the Army General Administration School. Subsequently, he was deployed to the 2nd Military Police Corps, where he will continue service as an active-duty soldier.
