BTS' V's self-composed track Sweet Night emerged as the first Korean Original Sound Track (OST) to surpass the sales of 500,000 units in the United States on July 3, 2024. Kim Taehyung is credited as one of the songwriters and producers for Sweet Night.

Sweet Night was recorded by Taehyung and released as the soundtrack for the 2020 South Korean slice-of-life series Itaewon Class, starring Park Seo-joon and Kim Da-mi. The Indie pop record was unveiled for digital download and streaming on March 13, 2020, by Vlending Company. The other songwriters for the track include Hiss Noise, Adora, Michel, Lindgren, and Schulz.


BTS' V's Sweet Night is eligible for Gold Certification in the United States

As BTS' V's Sweet Night surpassed 500,000 unit sales in the United States, the OST has been eligible for a Gold Certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the United States. Sweet Night is the first-ever Original Sound Track from a Korean Drama to be eligible for gold certification in the United States.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, the Standard singles would be certified Gold when the track ships 500,000 copies. The digital singles would also be awarded Gold Certification if they sell 500,000 units.

Soon, the news about BTS' V's latest milestone circulated on social media, and fans shared multiple snippets celebrating the idol's achievement. They trended phrases, including 'HIT MAKER SWEET NIGHT V,' 'CONGRATULATIONS TAEHYUNG,' 'B-ARMYS LOVE TAEHYUNG,' 'LOVE YOU TAEHYUNG,' 'HISTORY MAKER V,' and others to showcase their support and encouragement for the idol.

The track achieved commercial success as it debuted at number 39 on the domestic Gaon Digital Chart and at position three on the Goan Download Chart, followed by securing numbers 89 and 32 on the Gaon Streaming Chart and Gaon BGM Chart, respectively.

BTS' V has released other Original Sound Tracks for Korean Dramas throughout his career. It includes It's Definitely You with Jin (2016) for Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth and Christmas Tree (2021) for Our Beloved Summer. Scenery (2019), Winter Bear (2019), and FRI(END)S (2024) were also released as non-album singles by the idol.

Kim Taehyung released his debut studio album, Layover, on September 8, 2023, through BigHit Music, featuring Slow Dancing as the leading track. It featured five other songs, including Rainy Days, Blue, Love Me Again, For Us, and the Slow Dancing piano version.


BigHit Music announced through a press release on Weverse that BTS' V would hold a special exhibition, ARTSPACE: TYPE 1, to commemorate the forthcoming photobook TYPE 1. The exhibition will start on July 12, 2024, at Platform-L Contemporary Art Center, Seoul, South Korea. It will be held in other countries, including Bangkok, Taipei, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

BTS' V is currently assigned to the 2nd Army Corps of Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, where he will serve the remaining period of his military duty. He is expected to return with BTS in 2025.
