After Exhuma, actor Choi Min-sik is now the top choice for the remake of the 2015-released American movie starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, The Intern, reported Naver on June 18. The remake was supposed to be made in 2020, but it ended up not materializing. This time, Anthology Studio has approached Choi Min-sik to play the role of Robert De Niro in the movie.

The CEO of Anthology Studios, Choi Jae-won, revealed they are looking for a female director to start the process. The story revolves around an immensely successful businesswoman who hires a 70-year-old intern. The veteran actor now gets to decide if he will continue with the project.

Ben Whitaker, finding retirement not to his taste, decided to take up a job as an intern in an online fashion store. As he helps Jules Ostin, the boss, with her workload, they develop a warm relationship. The story reveals various underlying themes that touch upon the pressures of work and balancing a family along with it.

If Min-sik agrees to the part, he will play the 70-year-old Ben Whitaker, earlier played by Robert De Niro. Min-sik was cast first when the film was supposed to start production in 2020.

Even after 4 years, Choi Min-sik remains the best choice for the role. Director Kim Han-gyul, known for Pilot, The Most Ordinary Romance, and Make Peace, could also join the team, though it has not been confirmed yet.

Some of his bests include Old Boy, which earned him the Baeksang Art Award, Roaring Currents, I Saw the Devil, Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, New World, In Our Prime, and Lucy.

In more recent times, Exhuma has garnered much attention thanks to its storyline and the strong set of cast, of which Min-sik was an integral part. The story unfolds when a wealthy family from Los Angeles starts experiencing supernatural occurrences and decides to call upon the famous shaman duo Hwa-ram (played by Kim Go-eun) and Bong-il (played by Lee Do-hyun).

As they unearth the grave of an ancestor, unfortunate events follow. Choi Min-sik plays the character of a Feng-Shui master who helps with the exhumation of the grave.

The movie was loved by fans worldwide. It added its name to the records as the first Korean occult horror movie to garner more than 10 million moviegoers milestone.

With his experience, Min-sik proves to be a suitable option for the upcoming movie. There has not been any information regarding the role of Jules Ostin and the actress playing it.
