Choi Soo-young and Gong Myung reported to lead new tvN romcom drama A Very Common Sense Alcoholic

Actress Choi Soo-young and actor Gong Myung are reported to star in the upcoming new drama A Very Commonsense Alcoholic (tentative title). On August 20, 2024, Naver reported that according to an industry insider, the Girls Generation member and The Bride of Habaek actor are going to act in the drama.

Written by the writer of Monthly Magazine Home (2021), A Poem a Day (2018), and Drinking Solo (2016), Myung Soo Hyun, this upcoming drama is about a woman who is born and raised in a family of alcoholics and now she is trying to escape from drunkenness.

A Very Commonsense Alcoholic: The plot and characters played by Chai Soo-young and Gang Myung

Chai Soo-young is reported to play the role of Han Geum-ju, a woman who is a public service mechanic at a large company for her love of cars. She's born into a family of alcoholic people and then given the title of 'alcoholic' for drinking 'better than a man'. So she challenges herself to stop drinking.

Gang Myung will star as Seo Eui-jun, a former successful doctor from a top Seoul hospital who relocates to a rural Bocheon Health Center. He believes that alcohol doesn’t alleviate pain or cure problems and can ruin lives, and he works to raise awareness about this. He is likely to cross paths with Han Geum-ju, who is labeled an 'alcoholic.'

This drama is reportedly going to be directed by Jang Yoo Jung, known for directing movies such as Honest Candidate (2020) and The Bros (2017).

Choi Soo-young, known as 'Sooyoung,' is a vocalist in the South Korean girl group Girls' Generation, which gained fame with their 2009 song Gee. Beyond her music career, she has acted in dramas such as Unstoppable Marriage (2007), Oh!
