Choi Woo-shik and Chun Woo-hee reportedly in talks to lead Disney+ drama The Waking

On August 7, 2024, several news publications, including Naver, reported that Choi Woo-shik and Chun Woo-hee are in talks to lead the upcoming Disney+ K-drama titled ‘The Waking’. This new Korean drama is slated to premiere in the first half of 2025. Note that this is the tentative title of the K-drama.

Kim Tae-gon, who is best known for his 2023 action thriller movie, Project Silence, will direct The Waking. The plot of this show will revolve around two groups that have to deal with large creatures. Choi Woo-shik is expected to play a character named Jun-ho. He is a worker in a freezer who gets a strange stone that gives them great power. Chun Woo-hee is reported to be the female lead in the drama.

The Waking, which plans to feature Choi Woo-shik and Chun Woo-hee, will potentially begin filming in the coming months. The show will be produced by Climax Studio.

As reported by Naver, Choi Woo-shik’s agency, Fable Company, disclosed the information that the actor is currently reviewing the series. The reported statement released by the agency says:

"It is one of the works that has been offered to Choi Woo Shik and the actor and is currently reviewing it."

Choi Woo-shik, playing Jun-ho, is a guy whose normal life working in a cold storage facility takes an unusual turn. Jun-ho finds an unnatural stone that gives him the power to transform into a giant.

Chun Woo-hee is also joining the cast of The Waking. Details about her character are still being kept hidden.

Choi Woo-shik has previously appeared as the lead in A Killer Paradox (2024) and played the adorable romantic character in Our Beloved Summer (2021). He also starred in the Academy Award-winning movie Parasite, which added to his global fame.

Meanwhile, Chun Woo-hee is having a great year so far. Her latest roles in the thriller series The 8 Show and the fantasy romance drama Atypical Family have already gotten her a lot of praise from fans.
