All you need to know about the fan theories of BTS' Taehyung's supposed casting in Squid Game 3

The rumors of BTS' Taehyung starring in the Squid Game series initially started in late 2021, when the idol dressed up in the show's iconic 'Pink Guard' costume for BTS' Permission to Dance on Stage concert in Los Angeles, California. While the rumors began back then, they were fueled further when fans saw the idol interact with the show's cast members.

BTS' V was seen hanging out with the lead actor of Squid Game quite frequently, and the two even posted pictures of them together on Instagram. Additionally, the idol is known to be good friends with ZE:A's Im Si-wan, otherwise known as Yim Si-wan, a cast member of Squid Game 2.

Most recently, when Netflix Korea released the teaser for Squid Game 3 on YouTube, the description accidentally included the release date for the season, which was revealed to be June 27, 2025. While it was soon edited and removed, many fans caught on to the reveal. On the other hand, netizens also connected the release date to one of Taehyung's recent Instagram post's caption.

In his latest post, uploaded on December 5, 2024, the idol wrote "27 v2" as his caption. Fans then theorized that '27' refers to the season's release date while 'v2' alludes to BTS' V's second K-drama series appearance. Moreover, given that the idol is expected to be discharged from his mandatory military service on June 10, 2025, fans also think he will be available during the show's promotion period.

Meanwhile, several netizens think that the theories are quite far-fetched. Regardless, the rumors have been long-running and widespread across the internet.
