On Thursday, October 24, BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars' APT won at the latest broadcast of the South Korean music show, MCountdown, sending fans into a frenzy. It's a music program created by Mnet and held at the CJ E&M Center Studio in Sangam-dong, Mapo District, Seoul, on a weekly basis. Every Thursday, ten artists are ranked based on their sales count and fan votes.
Out of which the artist with the first rank takes home a trophy. Additionally, other artists with recent comebacks and releases would also roll out performances at the broadcast. Therefore, for this week's broadcast, the song at the top of the ranking on MCountdown was APT by BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars. This also stands as Bruno Mars' first music show win.
Given that MCountdown and other similar programs are ideally centered around the Korean music industry, artists from other industries don't bag wins at these events unless they collaborate or hold features with Korean industry artists' tracks. Therefore, Bruno Mars' collaboration with Rosé, which peaked both in terms of sales and votes from fans, led to the American singer's first music show win.
Following the announcement of the recent MCountdown broadcast's winner, fans went feral over the news. They were beyond elated for the song's win and were also happy to see the American singer gain recognition in other parts of the music industry. Therefore, X and other social media platforms flooded with congratulatory messages for Bruno Mars. Here are a few reactions:

All you need to know about BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars' recent collaboration, APT
On October 18, BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars release their collaborative track, APT, through the two record labels, The Black Label and Atlantic Records. The song also stands as the lead single for the BLACKPINK member's solo debut album, Rosie.
The song and its title, APT, is an acronym for the Korean word, APATEU, which stands for Apartment. The word also refers to a Korean drinking game, and Rosé explained that the song came about when she, Bruno Mars, and a few others were hanging out at the studio.
Randomly, Rosé decided to show them how to play the Korean game and eventually, a song inspiration evolved from it. Here's what she said about the same in an interview with Vogue regarding the song release:
"'APT' is the name of my single that just dropped and 'APT' is actually a Korean drinking game that I love to play with my friends. Basically, we were hanging out in the studio and I was like how about I teach you guys some Korean drinking games and then I started doing it."
She also shared that she had a few concerns about whether or not to create a song out of a Korean drinking game.
"I remember going home freaking out, thinking, 'Is this ok? Writing a song about a drinking game. Is this too unserious?'"
On the other, the song has become a viral sensation on the internet. Fans and netizens from across the globe have not only been talking about how good the song is but are also participating in the song's dance challenges on TikTok and Instagram reels.
