On September 3, 2024, the streaming platform Coupang Play released Lee Se-young and Sakaguchi Kentaro's What Comes After Love's main trailer, providing a glimpse of the upcoming poignant yet heartwarming story. The latest clip showcased the sad tale of the former lovers Choi Hong and Aoki Jungo and how they separated.

The romance and melodrama What Comes After Love follows the love story of a Korean student named Choi Hong in Japan. As she stayed in the land of the rising sun, Choi Hong fell in love with the native Aoki Jungo. However, things did not go smoothly, and the duo eventually broke up. The series will feature the reunion of Choi Hong and Aoki Jungo after five years in South Korea.


What Comes After Love main trailer sheds light on why Lee Se-young and Sakaguchi Kentaro broke up

Lee Se-young and Sakaguchi Kentaro will chronicle the characters of Choi Hong and Aoki Jungo in the upcoming series What Comes After Love. The main trailer for the anticipated series showcases Choi Hong and Aoki Jungo sitting next to each other in a vehicle, where the former expresses her regret of encountering the latter and states, as translated by X user @gongjicheoIs:

"If I knew that I would have met Jungo, I would not go."

Subsequently, the What Comes After Love main trailer further showcases the lovey-dovey and romantic moments of the couple when they were head over heels for each other. In the heart-flattering scenes, Aoki Jungo gifted a keychain to Choi Hong, and slept embracing each other. In this particular scene, the female protagonist echoed the following words, as translated by X user @gongicheoIs:

"Even though the whole world knows that love has an expiration date. I believed that only I was different and only our love was different."

The scene transitions to showcasing the separation phase of the couple in the upcoming series. In a clip, Aoki Jungo expressed his shock at how Choi Hong shouted at him with an expression he had never seen before. The male protagonist wondered whether he could have avoided losing Aoki Jungo if he hadn't uttered something that day.

The separation scene showcased how Choi Hong had left the place with teary eyes and Aoki Jung running behind her. Later, the trailer transitioned to the present times, where a female voice echoed and asked Choi Hong if she still liked that person. The scene shows the former lovers standing next to each other.


The romance series What Comes After Love, featuring six episodes, is slated to premiere on September 27, 2024. The series will stream on platforms like Amazon Prime and Coupang Play.
