BTS' V x Bing Crosby White Christmas was released on December 6
On November 7, Billboard confirmed that BTS' Kim Taehyung will release a pre-recorded rendition of White Christmas with the famous pop artist Bing Crosby on December 6. The song, originally dropped in 1945, served as the primary track from Crosby's Merry Christmas record.
Bing Crosby (1903-1977) was a renowned vocalist and actor, celebrated for songs such as White Christmas, Swinging on a Star, and Pennies from Heaven, as well as his impact on music, radio, television, and cinema.
White Christmas evolved into the best-selling single of all time, a distinction it maintained for nearly 60 years. For the 2024 holiday season, BTS' V provided his own version of Bing Crosby's song.
BTS' V expressed his gratefulness for being featured in a song by his favorite jazz artist. In his statement to Billboard published on December 8, BTS' V said:
“I’m so grateful to have had the chance to be featured in a song with my all-time favorite jazz artist, Bing Crosby. I grew up listening to his song ‘It’s Been a Long, Long Time’ countless times a day, and I feel incredibly fortunate and honored to have sung along on ‘White Christmas’ with the voice of someone I consider an idol.”
The BTS member further added:
“Being a huge fan of his, I sang with the utmost sincerity and admiration for him. I hope many people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed singing it. Lastly, I wish a lovely holiday season to everyone listening to the song.
After the song's release, BTS' V hit an important feat with his rendition of Bing Crosby's track, rapidly ascending to the top of the Worldwide and European iTunes charts, clinching the #1 position in 50 nations mere hours after its debut. The work was facilitated by Primary Wave Music and the Bing Crosby Estate.
As of this writing, Kim Taehyung, aka V, is fulfilling his obligatory military service. He left for his military service in December 2023, alongside his bandmate RM. Therefore, both members are expected to be discharged together in June 2025.
While in his service, BTS' V recently dropped his much-awaited track Winter Ahead, which came out on November 29, 2024. Taehyung made this song in collaboration with Park Hyo-shin. Within days of its release, Winter Ahead garnered over 10 million views on YouTube, along with 1.4 million likes.
