On November 8, 2024, Paper Magazine's editor-in-chief, Justin Moran, explained the meaning behind BLACKPINK's Rosé's cover for the outlet's latest issue, leaving the fandom proud. The editor reposted the video through his TikTok handle, where he spoke about the significance of the female artist sitting on a Gorilla and stated:

"Virginie Despentes, in her book King Kong Theory, she sees Kong as this representation and metaphor for toxic masculinity, reflecting the glorification of violent masculinity. But in this cover story, Kong's fall out does not happen when he falls from the Empire State Building."

He further elaborated:

"It happens when Rosé beheads him, representing the collapse, the inevitable collapse of toxic masculinity by the very hands of the woman he held captive. The Paper switches the narrative by giving the power back to Rosé, who is now a bada*ss, Not a damsel in distress like in any depiction of that story, but a strong woman living her American dream in power. A damsel in power in the end."

Subsequently, Justin Moran's latest explanation for BLACKPINK's Rosé's cover for the magazine circulated on social media. The fandom could not contain their excitement and an X user tweeted:

"Very interesting! I love it when creatives explain the meaning behind their work. Damsel in power that's bada*s!"

Many fans related BLACKPINK's Rosé's latest cover to the prevailing toxic masculinity in South Korea. They also cited YG Entertainment's alleged mistreatment of artists and speculated that the 'gorilla' must be representing the agency.

"if this is right, I think it’s about time toxic masculinity in Korea to collapse. I mean, MOST men (not saying all of men) in their country are really… ugh,"- a fan reacted.
"Basically YG you nothin but an ANIMAL hehehe,"- a fan shared.
"Hey thats a strong message given,"- a fan commented.

Many fans also added that they love the BLACKPINK member's 'Rosie' era (the name of her forthcoming album). They also expressed their expectations that her latest record would be filled with honest and vulnerable opinions.

More about BLACKPINK's Rosé's latest interview

Paper Magazine shared its exclusive interview featuring BLACKPINK's Rosé on November 4, 2024. The latest issue was titled, 'Rosé is on Top'. The female artist revealed the reason behind her selection of choosing to sign a solo artist deal with Atlantic Records for the promotion of her forthcoming album Rosie. The K-pop idol selected the agency because when she met the staff, she felt like she loved those people. She could hold a conversation with them and stated that she found them cool.

BLACKPINK's Rosé confessed that she had to complete the album with the people who were going to help her. She also stated that she was happy because she made the decision herself. The outlet cited that the female artist might have signed with the agency because it was home to celebrities, including Ed Sheeran, Charlie XCX, and the American singer Bruno Mars.

BLACKPINK's Rosé further confessed that she wanted to sing about the varied experiences an individual felt during their twenties. The female artist stated that it was not an easy time to survive. She recalled this to be one of the most vulnerable, confusing, angry, and exciting times of one's life. She also talked about her relationships as translated by Paper Magazine:

"I think I'm grateful enough to have gone through a few relationships, you know, like a normal girl in her 20s. I do want people to understand that I'm not much different from your average girlfriend or 23-year-old girl. I'm probably very relatable if you listen to my songs and if anyone's been in that kind of a relationship."

BLACKPINK's Rosé will release her much-anticipated album Rosie on December 6, 2024.
