Dear Hyeri, starring Lee Jin-wook, Shin Hye-sun, Kang Hoon, and more, aired the final episodes 11 and 12 on ENA on October 28 and 29, 2024. The final episode of Dear Hyeri showed that Joo Eun-ho (Shin Hye-sun) and Jung Hyun-oh (Lee Jin-wook) had made up. Joo Eun-ho saw a dream where her younger self met Jung Hyun-oh, and she told him about her past trauma and pain.

Joo Eun-ho opened up about her sister Joo Hye-ri and how she went missing. She also told him she tried to live as Joo Hye-ri to understand why her sister was so happy. She woke up to find Jung Hyun-oh beside her. Joo Eun-ho visited Media N Seoul's parking lot to meet Kim Min-young (Oh Kyung-hwa) and told her about her dissociative identity disorder and that Hyeri was her second personality.

Joo Eun-ho also met Kang Ju-yeon (Kang Hoon) and told her she would part ways with him with a good break-up since Hyeri loved her a lot. At work, Joo Eun-ho was allowed to substitute for the 7 pm news broadcast for two weeks.

To celebrate this achievement, she asked Jung Hyun-oh to go to the place where they had their first date. Jung Hyun-oh profusely declined as the place was featured in a drama due to its scenery and would have many visitors crowding there. Instead, he took her home and introduced her to four of his grandmothers.

By the end of Dear Hyeri, Joo Eun-ho and Jung Hyun-oh appear to be healed from their past and have a happy ending. Joo Eun-ho realizes happiness is sticking by her loved ones forever.

Dear Hyeri finale explained: Joo Eun-ho convinces Jung Hyun-oh to appear on the 9 pm news broadcast

In Dear Hyeri episode 11, Jeon Jae-yong (Yoon Joo-man) receives calls from the son of a victim whose business closed down due to his misreporting. Jung Hyun-oh decides to meet the victim's son instead of Jeon Yong. The episode ends with a cliffhanger, showing Jung Hyun-oh getting hit by a truck.

However, in the final episode, it was revealed that Jeon Jae-yong (Yoon Joo-man) pushed Jung Hyun-oh aside and got hit by the truck. The show then illustrated a sequence where Jung Hyun-oh's younger version met Joo Eun-ho. He opened up about his gambler father and mother, who abandoned him.

Jung Hyun-oh's younger version told Joo Eun-ho that he should pay the price of his misfortune by himself and not someone else. Joo Eun-ho explained that his misfortune may make him a better person or create better opportunities.

After Jeon Jae-yong's accident, Jung Hyun-oh went into shock as he could not believe a person might die because of him. Being a star announcer, the press chief asked him to take Jeon Jae-yong's place at the 9 pm news broadcast, but he declined as he blamed himself for his accident.

The Press Chief apologized to him for making him work extra and, in the end, chose Jeon Jae-yong for the 9 pm news broadcast. Jung Hyun-oh said he understood him, but it was unacceptable for him to take Jeon Jae-yong's place while he was in the ICU.

Everyone at work was concerned as Jeon Jae-yong's position was empty, and someone needed to go out in his place. They tried to convince Jung Hyun-oh but failed. Joo Eun-ho stepped in and met him privately. She realized he was scared and hugged him. He told her that misfortune turns into opportunity, but this was not what he wanted and that he was afraid.

Later, in Dear Hyeri episode 12, Joo Eun-ho explained that he should do it while Jeon Jae-yong was away and protect his position. She told him he could pass the baton to Jeon Jae-yong once he returned and informed him of his recovery. Jung Hyun-oh was finally convinced and decided to appear on the 9 pm news broadcast.

Meanwhile, Baek Hye-yeon (Jo Hye-joo) resigned from Media N Seoul and moved to PPS, where Joo Eun-ho and Jung Hyun-oh worked. She bumped into Joo Eun-ho and learned that Hyeri was not real but was Joo Eun-ho's alter ego. When Kang Ju-yeon learned that Baek Hye-yeon had blocked him, he called Joo Eun-ho and asked her to pass the phone to her. Baek Hye-yeon explained that she tried to get over Kang Ju-yeon and blocked him.

By the end of Dear Hyeri, Joo Eun-ho no longer experiences Hyeri's appearance. She decides to bid farewell to Hyeri and hold a party at Jung Hyun-oh's place, inviting people who met Hyeri. Kang Ju-yeon, Baek Hye-yeon, and Moon Ji-on bid her farewell, but Kim Min-young did not want to do so. Since Kim Min-young is Hyeri's friend, Joo Eun-ho decides to befriend Kim Min-young after hearing her words.

Dear Hyeri season 2 renewal possibilities explored

Dear Hyeri concludes as Joo Eun-ho is healed from her trauma and comes to terms with the past. Jung Hyun-oh proposes to Joo Eun-ho, and she says yes. After meeting Kang Ju-yeon at Joo Eun-ho's party, Baek Hye-yeon unblocks him, implying that they reconcile. Grandmother Yang Mi-Ja (Choi Soo-min) also happily watches Jung Hyun-oh with Joo Eun-ho.

Although there are queries about Joo Hye-ri's actual whereabouts, the drama closed with the scene where Joo Eun-ho and Jung Hyun-oh enter the forest where she went missing. Besides this, as each character has a clean conclusion, a second season is unlikely unless the makers wish to explore the story further. Notably, Dear Hyeri's production team has yet to confirm anything.

Dear Hyeri is available on Rakuten Viki and Genie TV for streaming.
