On Thursday, September 19, KBS Music Bank released a statement on X, criticizing football club Real Madrid's arbitrary cancellation of the upcoming Music Bank concert. The event was expected to be held on October 12 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

However, Real Madrid FC and the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium administration reportedly announced the sudden cancellation of the concerts scheduled at the venue until March 2025.

The broadcasting company responded by expressing how the local concert organizers and KBS Music Bank were not informed of this through an official notification. KBS' statement read:

"Before this article was published in the local media, local organizers in Madrid, Sonde3, KOREAN POWER, A.I.E, as well as the organizers in Korea, KBS Music Bank, did not receive any official notification from Real Madrid regarding the cancellation of the Music Bank concert, scheduled for October 12, 2024. "

The broadcasting company also stated that even six days after the initial announcement, they still hadn't been provided with an official explanation. The statement further mentioned the fans' disappointment at this announcement, as well as the financial loss both the fans and the company would face as a result of the cancellation.

"Great disappointment for the eight K-pop teams"- KBS releases statement criticizing Real Madrid for its sudden cancellation of the Music Bank concert

KBS' statement further talked about the condition of the K-pop artists who were scheduled to perform at the upcoming Music Bank concert in Bernabéu. They stated that none of the eight teams that were supposed to perform at the event received a notification regarding the concert's cancellation.

"The K-pop artists who were scheduled to perform at the Bernabéu concert are still seeking confirmation regarding the event’s cancellation."

They added,

"If the concert at Bernabéu is canceled, it will cause great disappointment for the eight K-pop teams and artists who have eagerly and earnestly prepared to meet their fans in Spain after a nearly 20-hour journey from Korea to Madrid."

They further demanded that Real Madrid take responsibility for the losses caused by concert cancellation and fix the damage it caused to Music Bank and its fifteen-year-long reputation in the industry.

They concluded their statement by expressing that the Music Bank's production team is willing to negotiate with the authorities of Madrid and the officials of Bernabéu on the possible alternatives that can be made for the concert.

They also apologized to the K-pop fans who were expecting to attend the Music Bank concert. However, they expressed that if Real Madrid reports back with an alternative and the issue is resolved, the concert can still go as planned.

Real Madrid is yet to respond to the broadcasting company's statement.
