On December 13, 2024, according to the official account of Pop Core (@ThePopCore), BTS Jungkook once again took the global spotlight after emerging as the most-mentioned male artist on social media alongside pop icon Taylor Swift following the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

During the Billboard Music Awards 2024, the BTS idol won across multiple categories, including the Top K-pop Album and the Top Global K-Pop Song for his debut solo album GOLDEN and its title track Standing Next to You, respectively.

His debut solo album, GOLDEN, was released on November 3, 2023. The album featured singles such as Seven, Yes or No, Hate You, and Standing Next to You. Within weeks of its release, Seven and Standing Next to You topped major Billboard charts, including the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Additionally, Seven topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks, making him the first Korean/K-pop soloist to do so. Meanwhile, fans across platforms have been celebrating his achievements. One fan wrote that despite serving in the military since December 2023, the idol was the most-mentioned across social media.

"Didn’t even need to attend the show to do that! Jungkook is THAT legendary artist! Did that while serving in the military!"

Fans expressed pride in the BTS idol for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Taylor Swift, one of the most dominant figures in global music.

"Jungkook a rookie soloist yet always ranking with the Biggest Artist in this era.. I can’t imagine when he comes back." one fan wrote.
"Jungkook is in military right now but he made the most noise and impact with just his name," another fan said.
"Believe in taylor and jungkook to bag the top spots," one other fan added.

Others echoed the sentiment of the BTS singer being away due to his mandatory military service and still making records worldwide.

"His name alone made noise without attending and in military," one fan wrote.
"Jk is serving anyway but his impact always real," another fan emphasized.
"No physical presence in the show but Jungkook influence is unstoppable: Jungkook was the most mentioned artist on X platform with the BBMAs, receiving +3 MILLION posts shared with his name on it. As we always say, MAIN POP BOY THINGS! This is brilliant." a fan added.

Jungkook's Billboard success in 2023 and 2024, Guinness World Records, and more

K-pop's breakthrough at the Billboard Music Awards began in 2017, when BTS became the first-ever K-pop group to be nominated for and win the Top Social Artist Award, paving the way for global recognition of Korean acts in the Western music industry.

At the 2023 BBMAs, the BTS idol took home the prestigious Top Global K-Pop Song award for his record-breaking hit Seven featuring Latto. The song was a major milestone in his solo career, as it topped the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Global 200, and Global Excl. U.S. charts upon release, becoming the first Korean solo track to debut at #1 on these major charts.

His achievements also include multiple Guinness World Records, cementing his influence as a record-breaking artist. Seven became the fastest song in history to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify, and he was recognized as the most-streamed K-pop solo artist globally.

In other news, the Standing Next to You singer will return from the military in June 2025 after fulfilling 18 months of mandatory enlistment.
