On August 1, 2024, SEVENTEEN's Mingyu was announced as the latest brand ambassador for the luxury brand Dior. The confirmation came through an official Instagram post by W Korea, featuring two new images of the star, both showcasing Dior outfits. The idol, who has been a frequent attendee at Dior events over the past year, has now been formally recognized with this prestigious role.

However, there is some ambiguity regarding whether he has been appointed as a global ambassador or a country-specific (Korea) ambassador for the brand. The announcement by W Korea only referred to him as an "ambassador." Additionally, the original Korean caption did not specify the scope of his ambassadorship, leading to some confusion among fans and the public.

Following the announcement, the fans were quick to take to social media platforms to express their excitement for the same. Some fans called this an era of the idol, while some others dubbed the SEVENTEEN member as the 'IT' boy.

SEVENTEEN's Mingyu becomes a Dior ambassador, reportedly replacing Cha Eunwoo

The recent couple of days have come as a treat for the Mingyu fans as not one but four campaigns for him were announced officially. The brands involved are Innisfree, Unove, L'occitane, and the most recent one, Dior.

Mingyu, who had previously attended the Autumn-Winter 2024 show in February 2024, was successful in stealing the attention. It’s also said that the star has reportedly replaced one of the brand’s previous ambassadors, Cha Eunwoo. Cha Eunwoo reportedly recently ended his contract with the brand and moved forward to become the newest ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent.

On August 1, W Korea announced the God of Music's singer's ambassadorship with the caption:

“Dior’s new ambassador, [Mingyu]. K-pop icon, SEVENTEEN's member, will be together as Dior ambassador. He deliberately embodied the emotion of Dior House, which is constantly reinterpreted through Artistic Director of the Dior Men's Wear Collection Kim Jones. We hope you will look forward to a special meeting between Dior and Mingyu, a blend of boldness and creativity.”

In the two photos released, the singer donned outfits from the Fall/Winter 2024-25 Menswear Collection of Dior.

The first outfit worn by the artist was a brownish khaki blazer suit with a light-clothed ruffled high-neck inner top. The second picture was clicked infront of a white background. Here, Mingyu wore a black or burgundy full blazer suit set with side-breasted buttons so there’s no space for any inner shirt to be visible. He sat on a regular and small wooden chair and wore black Dior sneakers to complete the look.
