On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, NCT DREAM kicked off a livestream to promote their latest comeback, the release of their fourth full-length album, DREAMSCAPE. However, several netizens were unhappy with the comeback in terms of its choreography, promotions, and more. The speculated reason behind this was the group's absence in Korea during the album drop.

Since the members are currently on their world tour, THE DREAM SHOW 3, they held the livestream following their album release at a time that was late at night for Korean fans. The members received heavy backlash for this. Therefore, soon after the livestream ended, three of the members—Jeno, Haechan, and Mark—released apology statements regarding the same.
Haechan took to his Bubble account and expressed his thoughts on the backslash and criticism the group faced for DREAMSCAPE.
"Of course, every album can’t be perfect, but we and our company apologise for not looking into it more to create a better quality album and using the excuse of not having a lot of time. I can confidently say that it’s not because the members lacked skill-wise."

On Monday, November 11, at 6 pm KST, NCT DREAM released their fourth album, DREAMSCAPE. The album has 11 tracks and the lead single, When I’m With You. While many fans were excited about the comeback, several netizens also expressed their dissatisfaction with the album.
Following the criticism, in addition to NCT DREAM's Haechan, Jeno and Mark also addressed the issue raised by the netizens. Through his Bubble account, Jeno wrote that he was sorry to disappoint fans with the album.
"We can’t please everyone, but there are some things that we have to clearly accept. It is only right to do our best. I will talk with the company and the members and try to improve the situation. I said it before, but we really wanted to make a good memory for everyone, and I’m sorry that we couldn’t do that from the start," wrote Jeno.
He concluded his statement by thanking fans for supporting the album regardless of the criticism. He also added that the NCT DREAM members and the company are trying their best to put out good content and expressed his hope that fans will look forward to their album promotions.
On the other hand, following the livestream where fans and netizens expressed their criticism of the album through the broadcast's comment section, NCT DREAM's Mark, the group's leader, also stepped in to address the same. He took to his Weverse account and released a long statement explaining the situation, where he first addressed the delay in the livestream.
The idol stated that since NCT DREAM is currently in London for their tour, they had miscalculated the time for the broadcast and regretted it. He added that even though they were upset about the mishap, they continued to go ahead with a delayed livestream. Mark then stated that he noticed many negative comments about DREAMSCAPE.
The idol expressed that he understood the reason behind the disappointment and criticism. However, he also added that the group put a lot of effort into creating this album and also requested fans not to judge the group's potential just through their latest comeback.
"Please don’t let this incident make you question Dream’s overall sincerity and dedication. For almost nine years now, 7DREAM and I have been working with full commitment. I’ve seen it all up close, and I know that, despite the demanding schedule, every one of us put our hearts and passion into preparing this album," he wrote.
"From the very beginning of preparing for the title track When I’m With You, we worked with a lot of heart and enthusiasm. I can assure you of that. If I didn’t feel that commitment, I wouldn’t see any meaning in continuing," he added.
The idol also added that NCT DREAM prepared the album with the best of their efforts, high hopes, and passion despite several obstacles such as their busy schedules and weak conditions.
He concluded his statement by saying that he wrote the message to clear any misunderstandings between NCT DREAM and NCTzens. He also expressed that it was heartbreaking to face the criticism right after the release since the members had been excited about the comeback.
