On October 18, 2024, BLACKPINK's Rosé released her solo comeback single, APT. with Bruno Mars. She teased the collaboration on her Instagram a day earlier after Mars commented on the post. Meanwhile, her fans shared great excitement at the arrival of the song and its official MV.
Some fans compared her to the Canadian singer and songwriter Avril Lavigne, who is popular for making pop-punk music like Sk8er Boi and Complicated. She also has eight Grammy Award nominations to date and is credited with leading female-driven and punk-influenced pop music in the 2000s.
A fan called Rosé the "new pop-punk princess" and wrote on X:
“Welcome everyone's new fav pop-punk princess.”
Her fans flooded social media discussing how the latest APT. music video reminded them of Avril Lavigne's music video from the 2000s.
"THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT AFTER I HEARD THE ENTIRE SONG. AS AVRIL LISTENER SINCE I WAS A KID, THIS IS BEYOND EXTREME HAPPINESS," a fan wrote.
"Omg yes yes, the first thing that I thought of when I heard the song was the vibe of avril lavigne and old school movies," another fan wrote.
"I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who thought this is so avril lavigne coded and I love it," one other fan added.
Others hailed her as the "Avril Lavigne of this generation."
"She’s really the Avril Lavigne of this generation," one fan commented.
"I always had a vision that she will release something like Avril Lavigne," another fan remarked.
"THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! She really sounded like avril in my initial listen," another fan emphasized.
