“Everything worked out perfectly”— Ha Sung-woon recalls working with BTS’ Jimin on ‘With You’ OST

Ha Sungwoon, who previously collaborated with Jimin on an OST, recently spoke about him on the show LeeMujin Service. Both artists had worked together on the With You OST for the drama Our Blues in 2022, which quickly topped charts globally.

On the KBS show LeeMujin Service on July 23, 2024, Ha Sungwoon discussed his experience working with Jimin on With You. He explained how the collaboration happened and shared behind-the-scenes details.

“Our Blues’ was filmed in Jeju so I felt more connected to it and the timing was great. Everything worked out perfectly. I let him listen to the song first too.”

LeeMujin Service is a popular YouTube music program hosted by South Korean singer-songwriter Lee Mujin. The show features various musical artists who perform live renditions of their songs, cover other artists' songs, and engage in casual interviews with Lee Mujin. The program is known for its intimate and relaxed setting, allowing artists to showcase their vocal abilities and musical talents in a live format.

The latest guest on the show was Ha Sung-woon, a South Korean singer and songwriter who rose to fame as a former member of the popular boy group Wanna One. He gained recognition among the wider BTS ARMY fandom after collaborating with BTS member Jimin on the song With You.

Together, they crafted a highly acclaimed OST for the drama Our Blues, showcasing their vocal talents as a duo. Recognizing this as one of the standout moments in his career, the host asked Ha Sungwoon about the experience.

The host asked,

“I remember you collaborated with Jimin. How did that come about?”

Ha Sungwoon explained that a composer decided to collaborate with him on an OST while the drama Our Blues was being planned. He mentioned that he asked Jimin if he'd like to do a drama OST with him. To which the BTS star happily agreed, which Ha Sungwoon was thankful for, allowing them to work together.

He added that it felt like they created something beautiful. Since Our Blues was filmed in Jeju, Ha Sungwoon felt more connected to the project, and the timing was perfect. He also noted that he let Jimin listen to the song first.

“Ah, there is a composer who decided to do an OST with me while the drama ‘Our Blues’ was being planned. So I asked Jimin, there's this drama...would you like to do it (OST) with me? To which he happily said yes so thankfully for me we did it together."

He continued,

"So it feels like we did it beautifully because while him and I were on a trip in Jeju, he had said that hyung, it would be nice for us to do a song together."

According to the host Lee Mujin, this sounded like a healthy and positive collaboration.

During its release, the song, With You had become the fastest song to reach the number 1 spot on iTunes. It’s a heartfelt rendition of a bittersweet life story of the leads of the drama, Shin Min-ah and Lee Byung-hun.
