The Netflix original series Squid Game 2 finally released on December 26, 2024, featuring several new characters as new players in the game. Since the second season's premiere, various rumors concerning the third season have circulated on social media, as the most recent season ended on a major cliffhanger.

Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for Squid Game 2.

Among these wild theories, one of them revolves around the true identity of Player 125 in Squid Game 2. Like other players, Player 125, a character named Park Min-su, was also added as a new player. Recent theories on TikTok and Reddit suggest that Park Min-su was one of the VIPs, who were shown in the first season. VIPs were those wealthy individuals who funded the game for their own pleasure and entertainment as shown in Squid Game season 1.

The latest theory surfaced after some fans looked into the cast members of Squid Game 2 and noticed that Lee David was the VIP 3 in the show, who reportedly seemed like Park Min-su. On the contrary, the Netflix Tudum page, clearly stated that Park Min-su shouldn't be confused with VIP 3, as these roles were played by two different actors.

Park Min-su, aka Player 125, was played by South Korean actor Lee Da-wit, often referred to as Lee David. The Deer mask VIP 3, on the other hand, was played by an actor named David Lee, who was not the same person.

As of this writing, the Google search for Lee David as VIP 3 that had previously served as the starting point for these theories no longer returns any results. Previously, the VIP 3 would have incorrectly identified Lee David as David Lee due to their names' similarities.

More about the Player 125 in Squid Game 2

Squid Game 2’s Lee David’s, Park Min-su, was a new character in the game, who was first introduced in episode 4, titled Six Legs. In this game, the participants were apprised of the six-legged pentathlon.

Netizens doubted Player 125’s identity owing to his shy and cowardly character. Besides, he also won games in the show, which further fueled the theories. As shown in the show, Park Min-su participated in the game, after falling prey to a housing swindle.

Alongside Player 125, fans of Squid Game 2 asserted that Im Jeong-dae, also referred to as Player 100, was another disguised VIP, who participated in the games. He was the boisterous elder in the series, who consistently persuaded others to engage in more activities and appeared to have no fear.

For those who are unfamiliar, the VIPs were first featured in Squid Game season 1 episode 7, when they were brought to the games complex to observe the Glass Bridge game and gamble on the participants.

They constituted a cohort of affluent elderly men, all of whom were initially clientele of Oh Il-nam (Player 001 from Squid Game 1). These individuals assisted Il-nam in financing the games, perceiving them as a source of amusement for themselves.

Squid Game 2, directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, encompasses seven episodes. Following this, the third and final season of Squid Game is also getting ready for release in 2025. The runtime is around 60 minutes.
