On September 1, BTS' youngest member, Jungkook, will celebrate his 27th birthday, an important day for the idol and his dedicated fanbase. This year, despite the idol's absence due to his military service, which began in December 2023, ARMYs are determined to make the celebration unforgettable.

Fans have taken it upon themselves to turn South Korea into what they lovingly call "Jungkookland," creating an atmosphere that spans across the country. Olive Young, South Korea’s leading health and beauty chain with multiple stores nationwide, has adorned its outlets with more than 2,400 LED screens showcasing birthday messages for the singer-songwriter.

In addition to the domestic efforts, FanNStar has arranged for birthday ads to be displayed on K-City Tour buses, running from August 26 to September 25. This initiative ensures that the Euphoria singer's presence is felt throughout the streets of South Korea.

Global preparations underway by BTS' Jungkook's fanbase for the idol's 27th birthday

For those unaware, in K-pop culture, it’s common for fans to express their admiration through public displays, such as purchasing screens and LED ads in public spaces. These efforts not only celebrate their favorite idols but also foster a sense of community among fans.

As fans in South Korea are turning the country into "Kookieland", international fanbases are making their mark as well. The idol's Chinese fanbase, @Jungkook__China on X (previously known as Twitter), has secured prominent advertising spots at Seoul’s Myeongdong Subway Station. Other key locations also include places like the K Finance Outdoor Screen in Seoul and the large surrounding screen at Incheon Airport.

In the United States and the United Kingdom, the "Golden Lights Event" will honor the BTS member by illuminating three major landmarks in the colors gold and green, reflecting the theme of his solo debut album GOLDEN. The three landmarks are,

  1. The Capital Wheel at the National Harbor in the USA
  2. The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, UK
  3. The Morrison Bridge in Portland, USA

Closer to home, the golden maknae's birthday is also being celebrated just a short distance from the HYBE building in Seoul. @JungkookJapan_ , the idol's fanbase from Japan has arranged for birthday ads at a 7-Eleven store in Yongsan, adding to the display of affection. With over 11,000 stores across Korea, 7-Eleven plays a major role in the convenience store market, and this gesture highlights the widespread support BTS and its members enjoy.

More about Jungkook's upcoming activities

The idol is expected to complete his military service in June 2025, following nearly 18 months of duty. However, he prepared a variety of content before his enlistment to keep fans entertained.

Currently, four episodes of the travel series Are You Sure?! featuring him and his bandmate Jimin are available on Disney+, with the remaining four episodes still to be released.

Additionally, the idol will premiere his documentary, JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL, in theatres on September 18, courtesy of his label.
