"Forced hate for interactions"— Fans defend BTS' Jin as netizens criticize the idol's upcoming OST, Close To You, for When the Stars Gossip

On Monday, January 20, a snippet of BTS' Jin's upcoming OST, Close To You, for the K-drama series When The Stars Gossip, was released. The song is scheduled to be officially out on January 26, and many fans were thrilled about the new solo song from the BTS member. However, some netizens were also seen criticizing the track and the idol's vocals in the same.

They opined that the song didn't sound good and also criticized the BTS member's qualities as a singer. However, fans soon came to his defense and stated that hate directed towards Jin was forced and unnecessary. They also added that the criticism was allegedly for interactions and attention. One fan tweeted:

"I hate this new trend of kpop stans forcing themselves to hate a song and lie to our faces just to hate," said a fan on X.
"You know the song is a banger when kpop stans try this hard to hate and drag it," commented a netizen.
"I will never take kpop stans seriously because what?!? Y’all trying so hard to act as his voice is awful," stated a fan.

More fans and netizens came to the idol's defense.

"kpop stans already tuning in oooh kim seokjin you are so famous," said a netizen.
"kpop stans in the quotes are beefing with the air while he's probably playing video games in his luxury home rn," commented another X user.

All you need to know about BTS' Jin's recent solo activities

BTS' Jin is a 32-year-old South Korean singer and songwriter who debuted under BigHit Entertainment in 2013, alongside his fellow members. The vocalist of the group has also rolled out several solo tracks aside from his schedules as a BTS member.

Some of his solo tracks include Abyss, Tonight, Super Tuna, Moon, Epiphany, etc. He's also released an OST called Yours for the K-drama series, Jirisan. However, his official solo debut was in 2022 when he rolled out his first solo single, The Astronaut. Soon after the same, he enlisted in the military for his mandatory service and was discharged from the same in June 2024.

The idol immediately jumped into resuming his solo activities. He started with the release of the extended version of his previously released solo track, Super Tuna. He also began his own variety show called Run Jin, a spin-off of BTS' variety show, RUN BTS. In November 2024, he released his first solo album titled Happy, which held the track, Running Wild, as its lead.


With quite a handful of solo content from BTS' Jin, fans have been excited and thrilled about the same. They've also been looking forward to the official release of his OST for When The Stars Gossip, Close To You.
