On September 1, 2024, K-pop star BTS' Jungkook celebrated his birthday alongside Hyerim, a former member of Wonder Girls, as she shared Instagram photos commemorating their special day. Hyerim took to Instagram to mark the occasion, sharing several photos, including one where she is seen sitting on a couch surrounded by Jungkook-themed posters, plushies, and other merchandise.

In her caption, Woo Hye-rim aka Hyerim humorously mentioned that she stumbled upon the BTS member's birthday event at a cafe while she was simply there to buy a cake. She wrote,

"Thank you even though you are busy preparing the exhibition. Jungkook's birthday event was held at a cafe where I accidentally went to buy a cake~" (as translated by Google)

For those unaware, this is the first birthday since the idol's debut with BTS in 2013 that he won't be physically present with fans, as he has been serving in the military since December 2023.

International fans celebrate BTS' Jungkook's birthday with ads

Known for his lengthy birthday live streams, the Still With You singer's absence is deeply felt by fans this year. However, they were pleased by Hyerim's update and extended their congratulations to her as well.

Fans of the idol took to themselves to celebrate his birthday. They transformed South Korea into what they affectionately call "Kookieland," creating a celebratory atmosphere nationwide.

Olive Young, the country's leading health and beauty chain, has decorated its stores with over 2,400 LED screens displaying birthday messages for the singer. Additionally, FanNStar has arranged for birthday ads on K-City Tour buses from August 26 to September 25, ensuring the idol's presence is felt throughout the country.

While South Korean fans are turning the country into "Kookieland," international fanbases are also making significant contributions. The artist's Chinese fanbase, @Jungkook__China on X (formerly Twitter), has secured prime advertising spots at Seoul’s Myeongdong Subway Station, the K Finance Outdoor Screen, and the large surrounding screen at Incheon Airport.

In the United States and the United Kingdom, the "Golden Lights Event" will pay tribute to the BTS member by lighting up three major landmarks in gold and green, symbolizing the theme of his solo debut album, GOLDEN.

The chosen landmarks include The Capital Wheel at the National Harbor in the USA, The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, UK, and The Morrison Bridge in Portland, USA.

The celebration of the Golden Maknae's birthday extends just a short distance from the HYBE building in Seoul. The Japanese fanbase, @JungkookJapan_, has organized birthday ads at a 7-Eleven store in Yongsan, showcasing their admiration. With more than 11,000 locations throughout Korea, 7-Eleven is a significant player in the convenience store sector, underscoring the extensive support BTS and its members receive.

The Seven singer is scheduled to return to the spotlight with the band in 2025 when all the members have completed their service.
