On Thursday, October 17, BTS' Jin released the concept clip, Journey, for his upcoming solo debut album, HAPPY. The concept clip, showcased during the album's promotion, featured the idol with long mullet hair. It was also edited and filmed to give an 80s to 90s vibe, and the idol was also seen doing activities like playing tennis, cooking, chilling on a campsite, and more.
Following the release of the concept clip, fans immediately went into a frenzy about the same. Many talked about how the album concept was both intriguing and exciting. They also expressed that it suited the idol and his aesthetic really well. Naturally, fans also began to storm up with theories on what the album might look and sound like.
"It’s giving me Boys over Flowers style."
Fans described the content as reminiscent of the 80s and '90s, noting the nostalgic feel and Japanese influences and speculating about a possible connection to a storyline involving alternate timelines.
"gives me 80s & 90s vibe. It brings me back to my childhood & teenager years Not only the filter they used, but also the way he's dressed & his wig. Goes well with the main track being produced by an ex-member of a 90's pop group!" said a fan on X.
"Why is this so Japanese coded," added another fan.
"okay hear me out yall. what if this is hyyh jin all grown up and living in the aftermath of all the time travel bs. maybe in another timeline where he saved everyone but in the end everyone grew apart," stated an X user.
More fans and netizens talked about the concept clip and swooned over the aesthetics and how good the idol looked in the same.
"The way the RGB colors orbit around “happy” at the end??? Idk it reminds me of the whole moon and space thing seokjin has going on with his earlier solos," commented a netizen.
"What in Boys Over Flowers is this, Seokjin? Oh My God!!!" stated a fan on X.
"It evokes a sense of nostalgia for the carefree spirit of people who found joy in hobbies and leisure activities," added another netizen.
Another fan remarked:
"he’s giving early 2000s kdrama star and I’m 100% here for it."
