On October 16, 2024, BLACKPINK's Lisa opened the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2024 with the performance of her single, ROCKSTAR. The coveted fashion show was last held in 2018, after which Victoria's Secret reportedly retired all its angels, calling a halt on its annual fashion celebration.

After a six-year hiatus, the show brought back supermodels like Carla Bruni, former First Lady of France and wife of politician Nicolas Sarközy, who was the President of France from 2007 to 2012. The show also brought model Tyra Banks, who returned to the ramp after 19 years. Meanwhile, the BLACKPINK idol became the first and only Asian and Korean act to perform live on the show.

The K-pop idol, who is also the CEO of LLOUD, was praised for her live performance at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Celebrities and show guests like Jordyn Woods, Taiwanese social media influencer Molly Chiang, Pia Wurtzbach (German Model & Miss Universe 2015), and Matthew Cancel (Founder of Cancel Communications) shared her performance on their Instagram stories.

Additionally, supermodels Gigi Hadid, Alessandra Ambrosio, Khloe Kardashian, and more lavish praise on the BLACKPINK singer's performance. Lisa opened the show by performing with 18 female backup dancers—a first-ever all-woman performance in the show's history. For the second segment, she wore a Victoria's Secret bronze wing and black sheer lingerie as she sang Moonlit Floor.

Fans shared their admiration as they saw the BLACKPINK idol garnering praise from the heavyweights of the modeling industry. One fan hailed her as,

"THE GLOBAL IT GIRL."

Fans also noted how supermodel Ashley Graham interacted with the BLACKPINK idol on the runway as she performed Moonlit Floor. The show was live-streamed on Victoria's Secret official YouTube channel.

"From khloe kardashian comment, to jorydn woods fangirling! Lisa you are so relevant," one fan wrote.
"Angels interaction. Lisa making a heart and sending kisses to the model ‘Ashley Graham’ who also made one with her hands for lisa," another fan noted.
"Jordyn woods posted Lisa on story and khloe commented on Lisa’s pic… ok Switzerland queen," another fan added.

Others rejoiced as their favorite models, like Alessandra Ambrosio, shared the BLACKPINK rapper's performance clip on their personal Instagram stories.

"Collecting them compliments like infinity stones!" one fan said.
"That's so sweet! Suni and Lisa always bring the best vibes together! Can't wait to see their reunion," another fan shared.
"OMG! Alessandra Ambrosio is one of my favorite Victoria’s Secret Angels! This means a lot to me!" another fan added.

BLACKPINK's Lisa made history as the first Asian and Korean act to open the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The BLACKPINK rapper's collaboration with this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is more significant because the show paid homage to women and their legacies. American singer and icon, Cher, also performed live on stage as the former First Lady of France and a former model, Carla Bruni, walked the show donning Victoria's Secret classic wings.

The show's theme was "nostalgia renaissance" as it brought back Carla Bruni, Irina Shayk, Adriana Lima, Alessandro Ambrosio, Tyra Banks, and Bella Hadid—who had retired from modeling in 2023.

Supermodels and official Victoria's Secret angels like Candice Swanepoel, Gigi Hadid, Jasmine Tookes, Grace Elizabeth, Taylor Hill, and Barbara Palvin also joined the list of models to walk for the comeback event. This year's event also introduced two trans models, Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio, as Victoria's Secret ushered in a new era of inclusivity in the modeling industry.

In other news, the BLACKPINK idol won the Best K-pop category at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on September 12. She became the first K-pop female soloist to win the category twice.
