BTS’ j-hope marked his military discharge on October 17, 2024, around 10 am KST at the 36th Infantry Division new recruit training unit located in Wonju district of Gangwon-do province. On the same day, the idol turned on Weverse live streaming, wearing his military uniform to greet ARMYs after a long time.

During his live-streaming video, j-hope opened up about the feeling of newness as he approached his military discharge. The BTS member shared that he spent 18 months in the military as Jung Hoseok and that it was now time to return to being K-pop idol j-hope. He said:

“Wow, 1 year 6 months.. is such a long time.. and during that time, to fulfill duties as a Korean citizen, i was able to live as jung hoseok for these 1 year 6 months, and now i am back as jhope. it feels a bit new.”

He also shared that he had thought about the schedules he would have to follow as a K-pop idol once discharged. The idol continued:

“It was such a hectic day and morning aha. and it feels so new. even a week ago, I was like.. I'm discharging? but I was like oh I'm getting discharged now. I started thinking of my schedules, and how there's a lot to do.”

Fans were concerned about the schedule he would follow right after his military discharge and took to social media to voice their thoughts. They wished for him to take enough rest before participating in any activities. One fan on X tweeted:

Several other fans expressed similar sentiments online.

“They should rest first before going back to their job. rest up hobi!!” another fan added
“None of them is even contemplating the idea of resting for a little bit after their discharge uh. I have mad respect for these men istg,” a user stated.

Fans continued to share similar sentiments regarding the BTS rapper's dedication to his work.

“Tannies are so dedicated, like it hasn't even been a whole day, and he is talking about schedules. Even jin just came in and had a mini concert the next day!” a fan wrote.
“Bro go take a rest please. go on a vacation or something why are you talking about schedule already,” an X user said
“normalize idols taking as long as possible before getting back to schedules after military discharge,” another user commented.

Meanwhile, netizens extended their support for j-hope while acknowledging his hard work at the military.

“You've worked hard hobi :(( i hope you get to do all the things you want now and go back to your normal life,” a fan stated.
“You've always worked hard baby, I'm so proud of you and I soooo happy you're out of that place” another X user reacted.
“So proud of you for carrying out your military duties well and coming back safe. take all the time you need to rest and adjust back to your normal life baby. i hope you’ll be able to spend time with your loved ones & brothers and be able to do whatever you wish to do,” another fan wrote.

BTS’ Jin receives j-hope on his military discharge at the 36th Infantry division

On Thursday, October 17, 2024, BTS' j-hope completed his military services and was welcomed by several media agencies waiting outside the 36th Infantry Division in Wonju for glimpses of the K-pop idol. Fellow BTS member Jin was seen outside the base to receive him. Jin was seen hugging j-hope and giving him bouquets to celebrate his discharge.

Before heading towards his car, the Arson singer addressed the press. He expressed gratitude for the love he received from the citizens of Wonju City and the continued support from his fans. He was heard singing the intro of the military song Going to the Front while waving towards the fans and media before he entered the car.

With this, j-hope became the second member of BTS to complete his military service.
