“HE BETTER NOT BE TROLLING USSS”- Fans in a frenzy as former BIGBANG member T.O.P seemingly teases 2025 solo comeback following drug scandal

On November 29, BIGBANG’s former rapper T.O.P. replied to one of his fans’ comments on Instagram sparking excitement on social media about his comeback in 2025. When a fan commented on his post asking about the “DOOM DADA 2.0,” the rapper replied “2025.”

For those unfamiliar, DOOM DADA is the solo track of the rapper, which was released in 2014. Therefore, such a reply from him excited fans online, as the screenshot of this small interaction on Instagram went viral.

T.O.P, aka Choi Seung-hyun, has been out of the spotlight since his exit from BIGBANG in May 2023, prompting varied opinions on the internet. Seung-hyun's music career took a significant hit after he reportedly got caught up in a drug scandal in 2016.

As reported by Naver, T.O.P was accused of smoking marijuana with his trainees. He faced trails in court and was charged with 10 months in prison and two years of probation. The rapper also acknowledged all the charges and apologized for his conduct.

For these reasons, Seung-hyun's Instagram reappearance has enthralled followers, who have swamped the internet with comments. One of them said:

Many other mixed responses from T.O.P’s admirers were seen on the internet. While many fans suggested that the rapper decided to make a comeback only after seeing his group’s reunion recently on the 2024 MAMA Awards’ stage, some netizens found it difficult to believe T.O.P.

“You never found artist like him. He announced he's not longer in Bigbang only through comment section and now he also tell us about his comeback only through his comment section too you weird b*st*rd i love you tho” another X user stated.

Some fans speculated the reunion of BIGBANG with the return of T.O.P. Many other were not able to trust his hints of a comeback.

More about the former BIGBANG member T.O.P and his drug scandal

T.O.P, aka Choi Seung-hyun, is a 36-year-old K-pop idol, singer, songwriter, rapper, and actor. The pop star made his YG Entertainment launch in 2006 alongside fellow BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri.

Choi Seung-hyun joined his military service in 2017. During his military service, T.O.P was accused of having smoked cannabis, as reported by Naver. He initially denied the accusations however he later admitted to all charges. It was also revealed that he smoked drugs on multiple occasions. He was reportedly found unresponsive due to a drug overdose during his military term.

Later, the rapper also confessed to the drug abuse. Doctors also revealed that T.O.P regularly took sedatives and had been taking them since 2016. The police shared that Seung-hyun had been regularly taking sedatives while in the military. As stated by The Strait Times on June 1, 2017, T.O.P was arrested in October 2016 for smoking marijuana.

As the Korean military prohibits, any person from having ingestible medication on military base, T.O.P faced several trials. As reported by Billboard on July 21, 2017, the rapper received a 10-month suspended jail term as he pleaded guilty and sought leniency.

Ever since his drug scandal, alongside other controversies surrounding other members of BIGBANG the K-pop group hasn’t been consistent with their music projects. After their 2018 release, the group came out with their song Still Life in 2022. Ultimately, in May 2023, T.O.P left the group.
