On June 12, 2024, Kim Seokjin of BTS fulfilled his 18 months of mandatory service in the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) and received a discharge as a sergeant. The singer-songwriter came online via Weverse livestream immediately after his discharge and greeted his fans. The musician's safe return from his conscription thrilled his fans, as they expressed feeling moved when he came online in his military uniform.
Jin mentioned in the livestream that he came to HYBE directly and didn't go home to have a change of clothes. He expressed his eagerness to come online and express their gratitude to the ARMY (BTS' official fandom name) for waiting for him for 18 months. Jin then showed a huge chart full of farewell messages from his military comrades. He said that his colleagues from the battalion asked him to read their messages once he reached home.

Jin started reading a few farewell notes during his livestream just to share them with 4.5 million online fans watching him. However, one message from a friend had surprised him and he reacted to it. The friend had asked the BTS idol to send his greetings to a particular girl group.
"I could've been in trouble reading this. He wrote a girl group! You're terrible! He wants me to say his greetings to a girl group. I said I only have 3 celebrity friends! You have to be scolded," he said [translated].
Fans were happy that the BTS idol "hasn't changed at all" and still reacts the same way as he used to almost 2 years ago.

BTS' Jin leaves the military base with teary eyes
Dispatch and MBC News live-streamed the BTS idols' discharge on their respective official YouTube channels on June 12, 2024. His military comrades saw the singer-songwriter one last time. In a tearful farewell, both he and his comrades ended up crying as they bid him adieu after spending more than a year with him.
BTS' Jin was telling his juniors to not cry, but he ended up crying himself. Following this, he stepped outside the military base gate and the CEO of BIGHIT MUSIC, Shin Young-jae greeted him and handed him a flower bouquet. The rest of the BTS members showed up to receive him despite ongoing military service themselves.
Jimin and Jungkook were supposedly on duty since they arrived in their military uniforms, while Namjoon, J-hope, Yoongi, and Taehyung had authorized leave from the military. Namjoon welcomed Jin by playing the saxophone throughout, which prompted even more internet memes from the fans.
