On September 12, 2024, BTS' leader Kim Nam-joon aka RM, marked his 30th birthday with a meaningful gesture by donating 100 million won (approximately $74,600) to support veterans. Despite currently fulfilling his mandatory military service, the rapper continues to contribute to causes.
As reported by a South Korean media outlet, Korea JoongAng Daily on September 12, his label BIGHIT Music stated that the artist's donation was made in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs as part of the "Uniform Worker Appreciation Campaign."
In a statement shared through his agency, the rapper-songwriter expressed that he had gained a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by many for their country. He stated:
"I have recently come to feel the dedication of so many people to our country. I hope this contribution can provide some small help to all the heroes who are committed to our nation and to those working for peace. I would like to express my sincere thanks to ARMY for always showering me with love and congratulations."
Fans of the idol took to social media to wish him a birthday and also appreciate him for his kind gesture. A user on X (formerly Twitter), @Boba_kookie wrote:

The "Uniform Worker Appreciation Campaign" initiative aims to honor and show respect for individuals in uniformed professions, such as the armed forces, police, firefighters, and prison officers. The donated funds will benefit those who have earned national merit, as well as bereaved families of service members.
The Wild Flower singer has also been actively serving as an honorary ambassador for the Ministry of National Defense's KIA Recovery & Identification Agency since May 2023.
Between 2021 and 2022, the BTS idol donated 200 million won to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, helping to preserve and restore Korean artifacts abroad. Additionally, in 2023, he contributed 100 million won to the Korean Society of Legal Medicine to assist in the training of professionals.
Kim Namjoon shared a few photos on social media, giving fans a glimpse of his birthday celebration with friends in the military. He also stopped by cafes where fans had organized special birthday events for him. The idol is expected to complete his military service and be discharged in June 2025.
