On October 19, 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC unveiled BTS member Jin's second concept clip, titled 'Imagine,' for his upcoming solo debut album Happy. The 27-second teaser grabbed the attention of fans, showcasing the idol in an office setting. As soon as the clip was shared, fans took to social media to dissect every detail, and one particular discovery had them buzzing with excitement.
During the brief scene, a stack of papers with sheet music on top appeared in the shot. Eagle-eyed fans identified the musical notes as belonging to BTS’s track Spring Day. This revelation sparked widespread speculation, as Spring Day is closely associated with the HYYH (Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa) era, an important period in the band’s storytelling and artistic evolution.
Many fans theorized that this subtle inclusion could hint at a deeper connection between the idol's upcoming album and the HYYH universe. The excitement around this possible connection grew even stronger due to the Smeraldo Flower Instagram account.
This account, tied to BTS’s fictional universe, the Bangtan Universe (BU), became active after more than a year of silence. Its latest post features a picture of flowers, which revived memories of the HYYH series. A user on X, @evienyangnyang, wrote,
"HE IS RESTARTING HYYH ALL OVER AGAIN. SMERALDO FLOWER SHOP RE-OPENING AND THIS?!"
"Oh, you are so good. I was dying to find out if Jin had slipped clues in all over the place in these visuals," another fan commented.
"EVERYTHING'S CONNECTED," a user wrote on X.
"SEOKJIN MY MAN GOT THE BEST TASTE! Spring Day is really supremacy," another user remarked.
"Hyyh is back you all," a fan mentioned.
Fans also noted a possible connection with Jimin, who included sheet music for The Truth Untold in his solo album MUSE, wondering if it was a coincidence. Meanwhile, RM, serving in the military with other BTS members, recently performed Spring Day with the military band.
This increased fan excitement and fueled speculation about the song's significance in Jin's upcoming album and BTS's overall story.
"And then there’s Namjoon singing it with his military band…coincidence? I don’t think so," a fan wrote.
"There’s no way omg first jimin using the truth untold and now jin with spring day what’s going on," an X user commented.
"We are really going back to our roots with this album," another person remarked.
More about BTS' Bangtan Universe (BU) and Jin's upcoming album, Happy
For those unfamiliar, HYYH, or Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa, loosely translates to "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life." This era introduced the Bangtan Universe, with BTS incorporating characters and themes into music videos and other media.
Fans have long speculated that Spring Day, which was part of BTS's 2017 album You Never Walk Alone, plays a central role in this storyline, symbolizing themes of loss, youth, and the pain of letting go. The album carried many elements of the HYYH era, reinforcing the emotional journey BTS had explored through their music.
As fans eagerly await Jin’s Happy album, scheduled to drop on November 15, 2024, they have begun theorizing about the possible connections to BTS’s earlier works.
Jin's album will have six tracks:
- Running Wild [Main Track]
- I'll Be There [Pre-Release Single]
- Another Level
- 네게 닿을 때까지 (Until it reaches you)
- Heart on the Window [with Red Velvet's Wendy]
- 그리움에 (In yearning/longing)
The pre-release single I'll Be There is set to be unveiled on October 25, 2024.
