On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, BTS' Jin was appointed Gucci's Global Brand Ambassador. Following this, he received a warm welcome not only from the company but also from its Creative Director, Sabato De Sarno. The K-pop idol is the newest to join Miley Cyrus, NewJeans' Hanni, Korean rapper Jay Park, actor Lee Jung-jae, and others as partners.

Soon after the idol got added to the Gucci family, on August 8, the brand posted exclusive photos of him donning its luxe attires. The Creative Director penned a message to Jin, stating that his "warm and kind" disposition, alongside his stardom, makes him an exciting new brand member. De Sarno wrote,

“I am very excited to welcome Jin as Global Brand Ambassador. His warm and kind personality is truly magnetic, and his style is simply unique. He is a generous and extraordinary artist who is able to move people with his music, which makes us even more honored to share this journey with him.”

Furthermore, he also added the same welcome note to his socials for the BTS member who recently finished his military service and returned to the limelight. In other posts by Gucci, the label mentions Jin as someone who perfectly symbolizes Gucci's values of individuality and authenticity.

The fashion house followed this with another post of Jin wearing the latest Spring/Summer 2025 menswear collection by the Creative Director himself. Captioning the image, Gucci noted how Jin's "inspiring creativity" embodies the brand's innovative spirit.

BTS' Jin x Gucci was already predicted by ARMYs ahead of ambassadorship declaration

While the 31-year-old artist has now been made the new face of Gucci, the band's fandom, ARMY, noticed hints of the speculated partnership way before it was officially announced. Most theories commenced when Jin had just returned from the military, and on June 14, one fan spotted various gifts from the Italy-based designer brand lined up for the idol outside HYBE's official headquarters.

Gucci presented several luxurious bags to celebrate BTS' Jin's discharge, along with confetti-filled balloons and a specialized Wootteo-themed cake. Not soon after, another fan shared a screengrab of a Gucci ad they saw online, in which a bag from the label was suspended next to an Astronaut in outer space.

ARMYs quickly connected it to the BTS vocalist's popular song The Astronaut, which he released before his military duty, as a parting gift to fans. While no official announcements had yet been made, these instances were clues enough for ARMYs.

Now that the ambassadorship has been made public, Vogue Korea also shared some words of Creative Director Sabato De Sarno regarding Jin,

“Jin’s distinctive style and engaging personality are a great fit for Gucci. We are honored to be working with such a special artist who inspires people through his music.”

While De Sarno is leading Gucci's creative flow towards a more mature Italian stylistic direction, in a Vogue interview, he also mentioned wanting to make people fall in love with the brand again. Therefore, the news of the team-up between BTS' Jin and Gucci further raises expectations.

Meanwhile, Gucci's foothold in South Korea is also expected to strengthen as the label is gearing up to release its new product to pay tribute to the country's culture. The product's debut is scheduled for October 15 in Seoul as part of the much-anticipated Gucci Cultural Month event.

This project will also highlight the works of notable Korean figures who have made considerable global impact by elevating local art via different mediums. Filmmaker Park Chan-wook, conceptual artist Kimsooja, contemporary dancer Eun-me Ahn, and pianist Seong-Jin Cho will present collaborative work for the event.

In other news, Jin, who ended his conscription on June 12, recently represented the South Korean team at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics as the honorary torchbearer. He won the Best Olympic Torch Moment this season via a poll on X, ranking first among global superstars like Monacan motorsports racing driver Charles Leclerc, tennis legend Rafael Nadal, American actor Halle Berry, and more.

Simultaneously, BTS' eldest has also been actively filming various variety shows while working hard on his solo album debut (KSJ1), which is slated to be released towards the end of 2024. Besides his solo album, he is also expected to bring out digital and pre-release singles.
