"Hope this isn't the end" - Fans react as Golden Child's Daeyeol, Y, Seungmin, Jaehyun, and Donghun depart their agency, Woollim Entertainment

On Friday, December 27, Woollim Entertainment announced that five of the Golden Child members, Daeyeol, Y, Seungmin, Jaehyun, and Donghun, have chosen to depart the agency. The agency released a statement where they explained that the five members' contract will end on December 31.

Following the same, the members have decided against renewing their contract with the agency. Earlier, the members TAG, Jibeom, and Bomin were announced to have exited the group and the agency.

Therefore, with the recent announcement, Joochan and Jangjun are the only remaining members of the agency.

Given that there has been no announcement on whether Daeyeol, Y, Seungmin, Jaehyun, and Donghun, will continue to be a part of Golden Child, fans have been anxious about the group's future.

Many fans and netizens expressed that much of the group's potential was allegedly not fully met during their time under the agency.

Therefore, fans hoped that the group would come together again sometime in the future. Here are a few fan reactions regarding the same:

"I wish them all the best whatever they do and wherever they go. I hope this isn't the end of the group though."
"Golcha didn't deserve this. 4 out of 7 years of contract they were inactive. They managed to achieve amazing things without the support of their company. I just hope they get to get their name and start outside that hell of a company," said a fan on X.
"this breaks my heart. golcha will always have a special spot in my heart you guys deserve so much better than whatever the hell is happening," added another fan.
"no more golcha music but at least theyre free," commented a netizens.

More fans and netizens talked about how they are happy about the departure but sad about the group's possible inactivity in the industry.

Woollim Entertainment releases statement announcing the departure of 5 Golden Child members from the agency

Golden Child is a seven-piece K-pop boy group that debuted under Woollim Entertainment in 2017. The group initially debuted as a 11-member group. While Jae-seok left the group in 2018, the other three members, TAG, Jibeom, and Bomin, left the group in 2024.

They debuted with their first mini album Gol-Cha! in 2017, and has rollled out several excitng tracks such as Wannabe, PUMP IT UP, DamDaDi, Burn It, etc.

However, the agency recent announced the departure of five members. Here's Woollim Entertainment's statement regarding the same:

"The exclusive contracts of Golden Child members Lee Daeyeol, Y, Bae Seungmin, Bong Jaehyun, and Kim Donghyun will come to an end on December 31. We have had extensive and thoughtful discussions with the members of Golden Child about their future and the direction of their activities."

They continued the statement by explaining that the decision was made after much thought and conversation between the agency and the group's members.

"After much in-depth dialogue, we have mutually agreed to conclude their exclusive contracts.We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Golden Child, who has been dedicated and hard-working since 2017 to present a variety of music to their fans."

They concluded their statement with,

"We sincerely wish the members of Golden Child the very best throughout the future. We also would like to thank our fans for their unwavering support for Golden Child."

Therefore, fans have been partly celebrating the group's departure from the agency while also hoping for the group members' reunion and redebut in the future with the full lineup.
