On Thursday, September 19, TXT's Yeonjun released his solo debut single, GGUM, through HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel. While the song has been majorly well-received by fans and netizens, many criticized the song's choreography and called it out for allegedly being too uncomfortable. In one part of the song's choreography, the idol is seen hip-thrusting to the song's beats.

Many pointed out that this part of the choreography made them uncomfortable and people also stated that it was unnecessary. This debate among netizens especially grew following the idol's recent appearance at the latest broadcast of KBS' Music Bank. The idol was invited by the MCs LE SSERAFIM's Eunchae and Lee Chang-min to promote his solo debut single, GGUM.

During the program, the idol rolled out a small snippet from his song's choreography. This snipped also included the controversial hip-thrust. Therefore, many began to call out the choreography's displeasing qualities. Netizens also criticized the idol for performing the choreography on live TV. Here are a few reactions from fans and netizens regarding GGUM's choreography:

"That hip thrust is so unnecessary how is it even allowed in the tv???"
"everything about this song is a hot mess. from the song it’s self, to the styling to the choreo. i don’t want to believe he actually likes this song himself," said a fan on X.
"The craziest part is he was genuinely feeling himself and it looked like he was thinking “I’m so cool…” I love TXT but this is too much." commented a user on X.
"Honestly the part when he is putting his hand on his crotch is disgusting and cringe." stated another user.

On the other hand, several fans came in support of the K-pop idol stating that there was nothing wrong with the choreography and that he's been receiving unnecessary hate for it.

"the double standard these kpoppies had been intaking on their bodies," commented one fan on X.
"at the end of the day, ur fave still doing the challenge with yeonjun," added another fan.
"basically saying everyone can have fun BUT yeonjun it’s stupid," stated a netizen.
"It’s literally “Idols deserve to have fun!!!…Except Yeonjun!!! Never him!” Like huh??? Y’all hate TXT for no reason lmaooo" commented an X user.
