BTS fans have showcased their disappointment in the South Korean conglomerate HYBE for allegedly demeaning their success in KATSEYE's upcoming documentary trailer. On August 5, Netflix dropped the trailer of the upcoming documentary titled POP STAR ACADEMY: KATSEYE.
The documentary trailer had a statement mentioning BTS’ creators, who would take their game to the global level with KATSEYE. The statement said,
"Taking k out of kpop to make it global."

Many fans believed that this statement undermined BTS’ global success and was disrespectful towards the artist. They also mentioned that HYBE LABELS was because of the K-pop boy group’s success and did not exist before its establishment in 2021.
They took to social media to share their thoughts.
"HYBE exists BECAUSE of BTS."- a fan said.
“"The people who created bts have the vision to take the k out of kpop and make it global" As if BTS isn't the reason why kpop is known outside Korea.”- a fan added.

Fans continued to voice their opinions about BTS’ global success and the statement made in the trailer.
“Why would you need to take the 'K' out of K-pop to make it global though ? Isn't the 'Hallyu wave' supposed to do the exact opposite—make Korean music global? There's nothing revolutionary about an English-speaking group going global; that's literally how it has always been.”- a fan stated.
