On Friday, September 6, several fan accounts stated that HYBE Labels lifted the copyright claims they filed on BTS's Kim Taehyung's fancams. Previously, many BTS fan accounts came forward expressing that HYBE, BTS' agency, filed a copyright claim on their fancams of the K-pop idol, V, on YouTube.
When this news landed on the internet, fans were angered and also suspected of alleged mistreatment of the idol by the label. This was because HYBE Labels reportedly hadn't filed any similar copyright claims on fancams of other BTS members.
Therefore, fans called out HYBE's actions, which were allegedly directed toward decreased online content and discussions about Kim Taehyung. This soon led to the rise of an online campaign on the social media platform, X. ARMYs began to trend the keywords, "HYBE TREAT TAEHYUNG EQUALLY” and “HYBE RESPECT TAEHYUNG,” to garner the label's attention on the issue and fans' anger about the same.
The hashtag also demanded the label to take back their actions, and soon enough, fans were able to succeed with their intentions. The fan account MOMBO revealed that their fancams of BTS' Kim Taehyung that were previously removed due to the copyright claims by HYBE Labels were back on their channels.
Therefore, fans have been celebrating their win and are happy to have the ARMYs gain ownership of their fancams of the BTS member again. Additionally, they are also pushing for all such copyright claims to be lifted from the BTS's V's fancams released by accounts such as Lucia Purple-nim, mumu_tae, TAETE OPPA, etc.
BTS' Kim Taehyung: Recent updates, solo career, military service, and more
BTS' V, otherwise known as Kim Taehyung, is a 28-year-old K-pop idol who debuted under BigHit Entertainment alongside his fellow members in 2013. The idol stands as the second youngest member and one of the vocalists of the group. While he's greatly contributed to BTS and their songs, he has also simultaneously established his solo career.
The idol released several tracks, both in and outside of BTS' albums. Some of his solo tracks on BTS albums are Inner Child, Singularity, etc., and his other solo endeavors that were released on SoundCloud include Winter Bear, Snow Flower, and more. However, the idol made his official solo debut in September 2023 with the release of his first album, LayoVer.
The album was created as a tribute to his pet dog, Yeontan, who he shares a fond relationship with. Several parts of the album, like the album cover, merchandise, etc., revolve around Yeontan and some of the concept photos and music videos feature him too. He also released a single called FRI(END)S on March 15, further exciting fans with Taehyung's musical style.
On the other hand, the K-pop idol is currently serving his mandatory military service in the South Korean Army. The idol enlisted on December 11, along with his fellow member RM. The two recently finished their military training and graduated as Elite Trainees of their batch.
