On August 19, 2024, South Korean media outlet YTN released an interview with MBC producer-director Kim Myung-jin. In the interview, he shared details about BTS Jin's guest appearance in the variety show I'm Glad You Got a Good Rest.
PD Kim shared that the K-pop star mentioned arriving for the shoot after only a few hours of sleep. According to the interview, the singer had spent the night before working on music.
Despite having a packed schedule and being busy with tasks like filming music videos and working on advertisements since his discharge, the team appreciated his dedication.
"Jin mentioned that he had only slept for a few hours before arriving because he was working on music the night before. He’s been very busy since his discharge, working on music, music videos, and advertisements, even though these results will be released later and aren’t visible right now," PD Kim said.
For those unversed, this marks the Epiphany singer's first appearance on a variety show outside his label's production since completing his military service in June 2024. It was reported that he himself chose this show as his first entertainment appearance.
PD Kim Myung-jin reveals more about BTS' Jin on MBC's I'm Glad You Got a Good Rest
The MBC entertainment show I'm Glad You Got a Good Rest, also known as Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island or 푹 쉬면 다행이야"(Puk Swimyeon Dahaengiya in Korean), is a reality series featuring Ahn Jung-hwan, a South Korean TV personality and former soccer player.
In the show, Ahn renovates an abandoned house on an isolated island and invites viewers to experience an uninhabited island check-in. Kim Myung-jin said that the singer's friendship with hosts Ahn Jung-hwan and Chef Lee Won-bok influenced his decision to appear on the show.
The BTS member's 92-liner friend Sandeul from B1A4 also made an appearance, contributing to the positive filming atmosphere.
PD Kim told YTN that the idol's agency reached out first to express his interest in joining the program. Despite his tight schedule, his early contact allowed the production team to prepare quickly.
"Thankfully, Jin's agency contacted first, saying that he wanted to appear on our program. His schedule was so tight that it wasn't easy to coordinate, but he sent us a love call before he was discharged, so the production team was able to actively prepare quickly," he said.
According to PD Kim, during filming on June 27-28, the singer-songwriter fully embraced the challenge of the uninhabited island, working diligently on cooking and hunting despite frequent rain. His enthusiastic and uncomplaining attitude left a strong impression on the staff.
As the only BTS member who has been discharged from the military, the artist is actively engaging in various activities for his fans. He’s also collaborating with luxury brands like Gucci and FRED. Additionally, the artist is preparing for his highly anticipated solo debut album.
