"I ended up shedding some tears"— BTS' Jin confesses about crying at his military discharge ceremony during his recent Weverse livestream

On Wednesday, June 12, the eldest member of the seven-piece K-pop group, Jin was discharged from his mandatory military service. Following the same, the idol immediately entered the HYBE Labels building and rolled out a Weverse live stream, still adorned in his military drill instructor uniform.

During the livestream, the idol talked about his time in the military. He also talked about how his military discharge ceremony went. He started by explaining that his visuals would ideally be much better but he looks a little swollen because he cried during the discharge ceremony.

Jin stated that, during the ceremony, the idol was asking his friends and other people on his team not to cry as he was leaving. However, he couldn't hold himself back and apparently began to cry too. Here's what the idol said:

"I was saying and telling the other people who were in my team in the military to not cry, but when saying goodbye, I ended up shedding some tears. And I feel like I made a good atmosphere but yes, I cried twice so I'm a bit swollen. But yes, I'm back after a year and a half."

On June 12, Jin was discharged from his mandatory military service and all the other BTS members were present in front of the unit to welcome his return. All the members greeted the idol with hugs, and they soon left for the HYBE Labels' building. In order to update fans and announce his discharge a livestream featuring the idol was ordered.

During the livestream, Jin talked about how he was quite famous in his military unit, and when he was discharged several people gave him posters and flowers. He also added that he was touched by the gifts he received, which led him to shed a few tears. When the HYBE staff members also gave him a warm welcome, he was only further urged to cry. Therefore, he ended up crying twice.

"Normally I'm much better looking but at my discharge ceremony earlier I cried a bit so I'm a bit swollen. And I came back to the company and the staff greeted me with posters and everything and this flower," the idol said in the livestream.

Then, he moved on to talk about the 2024 BTS Festa which is scheduled for June 13. The day marks the group's 11th debut anniversary and the idol will be holding a special event for 1000 Lucky ARMYs. The event revolves around the idol giving a light hug to those ARMYs who were selected through a raffle conducted on Weverse.


During the livestream, he stated that he consistently requested the staff members to make it happen. He said that he wanted to hug the people who waited for him and had plans to hug around 3000 ARMYs. However, he and the agency came to a negotiation of 1000 ARMYs. Jin concluded his livestream by saying that he was excited about the Festa event.
