On August 1, 2024, Netflix Japan dropped The Boyfriend Commentary teaser. The special commentary episode will bring back the entire cast and air on August 3, 2024, at 8 PM. Meanwhile, the teaser showed Alan, Dai, Gensei, Ikuo, Kazuto, Ryota, Shun, Taeheon, and Yusaku sitting together as they watched the show.
For the unversed, The Boyfriend is an LGBTQ+ Japanese reality dating show, that shows 9 male contestants live together in a villa to find their true love. Furthermore, the upcoming reunion episode will be joined by the show's hosts Thelma Aoyama, Dorian Lollobrigida, MEGUMI, Chiaki Horan, and Yoshimi Tokui.
Meanwhile, the teaser clip of the popular Japanese dating show went viral online as fans took to social media to express their excitement to see the cast reunite. One fan shared their excitement for the upcoming episode and wrote on X:

Viewers expressed their enthusiasm social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and flooded it with tweets and shared translations of the teaser. They praised Taeheon and Alan, two of the contestants, for taking care of everyone.

Netflix's The Boyfriend upcoming special commentary episode promises an abundance of wholesome moments
The Boyfriend aired its last episode on July 30, 2024, on Netflix. The men spent their summers living and working together in a home known as the Green Room for a month.
The participants in the reality program discussed their s*xuality, breakups, dating experiences, and other topics. The Boyfriend episodes were filled with plot twists and wholesome moments. From some cast members denying others their affections, to others who have successfully found their true love.
One of the most turbulent relationships in The Boyfriend was of Dai Nakai and Shun Nakanishi. The duo faced issues together even though they got along well at first. Shun was a tsundere and kept reliving his past trauma while Dai tried his best to be understanding and emotionally supportive to Shun.
Nevertheless, after a concerning tussle and Shun's hot-and-cold treatment towards Dai, they both left the show as a couple. In the special commentary episode teaser, Dai was seen saying:
"What I learned from looking at it that I really was trying to get closer to Shun, and I'm so thankful that Shun was trying to get closer to me like that too."
Furthermore, the second endgame couple was Kazuto and Alan. Kazuto has gained a lot of popularity ever since entering the Green Room. The 27-year-old Japanese chef stood out for his kind demeanor. Additionally, Alan Takahashi's love confession for Kazuto contributed in the duo ending up as a couple.
While the rest five members Gensei, Ikuo, Ryota, Taehon, and Yusaku left the show as singles. However, throughout their journey, they all developed meaningful friendships with one another.
