On Sunday, January 19, MTN News, a South Korean media agency, published an interview featuring former BIGBANG member T.O.P aka Choi Seung-hyun. The interview covered a variety of matters, including the rapper's reasons for facing the media after staying away for 11 years, and his most recent appearance as Thanos in Squid Game 2.

During the conversation, T.O.P revealed his future plans in acting and music. He added that while he has not formally restarted his entertainment pursuits, he is actively putting together a team to make his comeback as an actor and singer.

"I haven't officially resumed my entertainment activities yet, so I haven't received any offer. I'm currently working on forming a team w/ people who will help me. Once that's done, I plan to announce my return. After that, if there's a place that needs me, I'll run to them & do my best. I think I'll do my acting activities w/ my real name, Choi Seung-hyun & my music activities w/ the name I used in BIGBANG, T.O.P." Choi Seung-hyun stated.

Former BIGBANG rapper T.O.P asked for fans’ forgiveness for his actions

At the beginning of the interview, T.O.P asked for forgiveness from his fans for the mistakes he made in the past.

"I've always thought that one day I should stand in front of many people again and ask for forgiveness for my past mistakes. I've been looking for a reason to make such a request for a long time.” T.O.P. said.

Choi Seung-hyun also touched upon how the Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk boosted his confidence when he decided to step down from his role as Thanos amid the public backlash. He went on to say that he wanted to repay the director’s trust in him.

“That's why I worked really hard to repay the director's trust in the field. My fault can never be erased by the so-called image washing. The accusation against him is the cross I have to carry for the rest of my life.” T.O.P added.

Furthermore, Seung-hyun explained why he quit BIGBANG. He stated that he did not want to cause any problems for the other members of the group because to his drug case.

As a result, the rapper stopped mentioning the group's name. He additionally indicated that he has no plans to rejoin the group because many people still view him negatively.

“I left BIGBANG because I didn't want to cause any more damage to the team. I hated that if I kept mentioning it like Big Bang, the remaining members would have a hard time.”

For those unaware, Choi Seung-hyun was sentenced to 10 months in prison and two years probation after being convicted of m*rijuana use in 2016. Following this, in February 2020, the rapper announced his retirement on a social media live broadcast, stating that he will neither return to Korea nor get back into the entertainment industry.
