On October 29, 2024, BTS member Jin shared a glimpse into his approach to generosity and his views on gift-giving with staff while appearing on the YouTube show The K-Star Next Door. The K-pop star revealed his mindset about showing appreciation to people who work alongside him, explaining why he believes in sharing these moments openly.
Jonathan, the show’s host, remarked on the idol's reputation for giving thoughtful gifts, asking if the latter had personally bought items for staff on recent projects. Jin confirmed, explaining that he embraces a different perspective on gift-giving.
Instead of keeping his gestures private, the BTS member shared that he wants people to tell others that they received something from him. For him, this public acknowledgment not only brings him a sense of pride but motivates him to continue being generous in the future. He said:
"The right little toe should know what the left little finger did. I feel proud of what someone has to know, and I'll continue to do more. When I give a squid gift, I am like, 'I've done it for you. Instead, you have to let everyone know.'"
The singer-songwriter humorously contrasted his approach with the common notion of secrecy in giving, advising Jonathan to “announce it” when giving someone even the smallest treat.
He added that this shared acknowledgement makes his gestures more meaningful.
