On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the South Korean social networking application Weverse unveiled its Weverse magazine, featuring a private interview with BTS' j-hope. The most recent interview was published after the teaser release on December 23.
During the discussion, BTS' j-hope talked about several subjects like his military training, BTS’ comeback, his 2022 Lollapalooza Chicago appearance, and more. The K-pop idol touched on the separate projects of his bandmates, specifically highlighting Kim Seokjin's first solo release, HAPPY.
Before joining the military, his fellow members pre-prepared a lot of content, which BTS' j-hope found interesting. On many levels, their hard work inspired him. Additionally, he spoke about his bandmates' solo endeavors as a way to highlight their unique musical capabilities. He suggested that music is a beautiful means to express oneself.
BTS' j-hope appeared glad for Jin because he was finally doing something he had wanted to do for a long time but was delayed owing to his early military enlistment. For those unaware, Seokjin’s HAPPY was released on November 15, 2024.
“I love watching what Jin's coming out with. He had stuff he wanted to put out but couldn't because he enlisted first, but now that he's doing it, I can see clearly what he wanted to do all along. And now I keep thinking, since he did that, I should do this.” j-hope stated.
BTS' j-hope also revealed the reason for his visit to LA following his military discharge
Jung Ho-seok, aka j-hope, marked the completion of his obligatory military duty on October 17, 2024. This came after his enlistment in April 2023. Just a week after his discharge, BTS' j-hope took a trip to Los Angeles.
When the interviewer inquired about the reason for his vacation to Los Angeles specifically, BTS' j-hope responded that he is enamored with the city's easygoing atmosphere and appealing environment and added that all the music industry people are already present in Los Angeles.
“I like everywhere in the States, but Cali’s got a vibe of its own that I love. I like the sun, the atmosphere, and how laid-back it is. Plus, all the music people everyone talks about are there. (laughs) Actually, the whole point of me going to the US was connected to my work under the name j-hope, so that’s where I started. It was obvious that LA was where I needed to go,” he shared.
He also opened up about the eagerly awaited BTS’ comeback during the interview. The rapper said that the group’s comeback will have a “huge impact.” j-hope added that there are certain things the members have to do as BTS.
“There are certainly things we need to do as BTS. When we’re all back together as a group, it’s going to have a huge impact, and everybody’s going to be watching. I’m excited to see what it’ll feel like when we perform together again. I want to come back in style and say, 'This is us,'” j-hope stated.
In related news, BTS' j-hope is expected to come out with his new album before the group’s reunion in 2025, as per early reports.
