“I'm grateful that I don't have a husband and children”- Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin opens up on her ongoing legal battle with HYBE

On September 27, 2024, former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin spoke about her ongoing legal battle with HYBE Corporation at the Hyundai Card DaVinci Motel event, held at Itaewon-dong in Seoul, South Korea, where she appeared as a lecturer.

The creative director confessed that the lawsuit has cost her 2.3 billion won (which is about $1.75 million) so far, and hence, she is having to take drastic steps such as selling her own house. She mentioned, as translated by X user @kchartsmaster:

"The lawsuit cost is 2.3 billion won. I'm going to sell my house because of these legal fees. I'll have to sell it. If you don't have money, you can't sue. I'm grateful that I don't have a husband and children, and I'm grateful that my parents are living well."

For those unversed, HYBE and Min Hee-jin have been entangled in a series of controversies since April 2024. It started when the corporation stated that it would officially launch an audit of its sub-label ADOR.

HYBE further asked Min Hee-jin to step down from the CEO's position, and in response, Min Hee-jin accused the corporation of plagiarsim and creative infringement.

At the 2024 Hyundai Card DaVinci Motel event, ADOR's former CEO Min Hee-jin revealed a snippet and a demo of NewJeans' unreleased song, raising anticipation among the fandom, Bunnies, about the potential projects she has prepared for the band.

She played the snippet for three minutes and twenty-four seconds at the event and showcased her enthusiasm through gestures like nodding.

In response, the audience screamed and clapped enthusiastically. Meanwhile, the former ADOR CEO disclosed that she would document her recent feud with HYBE Corporation through a documentary.

Min Hee-jin stated that she had to win and would shed light on the entire story and mentioned, as translated by X user @kchartsmaster:

"I have to win. I thought that I didn't want to have to fight like this. I'm going to hold out as long as I can. I'm going to win. This is a rare event. I'm going to make a documentary. I'm going to make a documentary, and I'm going to tell the whole story."

The former creative director of SM Entertainment also expressed her frustration regarding memes circulated on social media for her recent press conference, which she organized to address the controversies related to HYBE Corporation and mentioned:

"I was deeply hurt that the press conference became a meme, and it was a heartbreaking story to me, but I could not accept it being trivialized and becoming a meme. After the press conference, I went home and felt relieved, but I felt bitter."
