On Saturday, November 23, The New York Times released an exclusive interview with BLACKPINK's Rosé. Rosé was asked about her experiences with the K-pop anti-fan movement, which typically targets female musicians. As she addressed the question, the APT vocalist broke down in tears. The idol revealed that cyberbullying made her feel profound despair, even though she had a strong and optimistic personality.
“I would say I'm pretty strong-minded. Like, I am very positive, and I like to be smart about how things affect me. But when it actually did get to me, it felt pretty, pretty bad. I was like, "Oh, my gosh, I am going through this." I never thought I would. I would see things online, and I'd always think, I wonder why they let that get to them? When it did, I was shocked.” Rosé said.
In another point, the interviewer questioned BLACKPINK's Rosé what she had seen online. The Number One Girl maker responded that she witnessed the comments.
She also empathized with other women and girls who may have experienced similar forms of negativity around them.
“Comments. Just searching topics that were not going to necessarily satisfy me. Rabbit holes of negative comments. I don't think I knew what I was searching for, but I was looking for validation and, wow, it was a lonely world that night on the internet. And as I was writing the song, I felt there must be so many other girls who experienced this. I just want people to know that I'm no different.” Rosé answered.
BLACKPINK's Rosé disclosed her inner turmoil over her private Instagram account breach
When asked about her private Instagram account, made under the moniker "Vampirehollie," BLACKPINK's Rosé opened up during the interview.
“"Vampirehollie" was my private Instagram account.”
The celebrity detailed how individuals on the internet got obsessed with her. BLACKPINK's Rosé's Finsta (slang for a secret Instagram account) was identified by those following her. Also, she opened up about the time some of her fans were attempting to control her.
“It's my Finsta. And then a few fans found out about it, and there are certain people who want to be negative, and they were trying to find all the ways to get to me. They ended up getting to that account and then using that to cause drama and create - actually trigger me. It felt like they were obsessed with the thought of controlling me,” Rosé further stated.
In another question, the K-pop idol was asked about how her idea behind her latest single Number One Girl. BLACKPINK's Rosé answered, revealing that she wrote the song after browsing through all of the negative remarks on the internet.
She stated that she felt lonely and lost after discovering what others think of her.
“I'm exhausted trying to please everyone." I'm always just trying my best to be my best version, but I felt a little lost and like I was never good enough.” Rosé comnented.
Furthermore, the idol pondered on her trainee days, stating how much she missed them. She wished for the days when she had a lot of time to work on her music.
In related news, the K-pop idol is getting ready for the launch of her solo album, titled Rosie. As of this writing, the artist has released two pre-release singles for her upcoming album, namely APT and Number One Girl. The full album is slated for release on December 6, 2024.
