“I teared up while watching it” - NCT's Doyoung gets emotional relating himself to Lovely Runner’s plot as an idol on NCT 127's 8th anniversary

On NCT's 8th anniversary, Doyoung shared with fans how he related to a scene from the popular and loved Kdrama Lovely Runner, starring Byeon Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon. The members spoke about the things on their personal and fan-related bucket lists. Each member said their parting remarks at the end of the program. Doyoung, in particular, seemed to have planned his parting statement as he started by outlining the story of the well-liked K-Drama Lovely Runner.

"I was watching the popular drama, 'Lovely Runner,' and saw the scene where the female lead, Sol, is trying to stop Sunjae from becoming a singer. During that scene, Sol tells him to live for himself. I get goosebumps even now thinking about it. Anyway, she gets mad while saying this. But I feel like it's something our fans would have wanted to say to us, too. I teared up while watching it yesterday. I felt it more deeply as today is our eighth anniversary."

Doyoung finds his fans' wishes to be similar to that of Im-sol

On NCT's 8th anniversary on July 7, the members reflected on the previous eight years and shared some of their most treasured moments throughout the show. Each member listed out things on both their personal and fan-related bucket lists. They all decided they would want to take a trip together.

However, Doyoung, who also loved watching Lovely Runner, added his perspective as an idol. In the drama, Im-sol, the female lead, is a diehard fan of Sun-jae, the male lead. While tragic fate binds them together, the time-travel drama shows the struggle of the two as they try to change their fate again and again.

The scene that the NCT member referred to is one where Im-sol, who can time-travel and knows of their doomed fate, asks Sun-jae to live for himself and stop trying to be a singer. Doyoung felt as though his fans would also convey the same for him and felt emotional.

However, later he added on Bubble,

"I want to say one last thing before today ends! If I were to live for myself, it would be to continue to work hard singing. I am already living for myself and working hard by singing. Thankfully, you listened to the songs made for me, and I began to sing songs for us. So, I am not living a life sacrificing myself, but I am living a blessed life. Thank you once again. Me."

Doyoung holds first solo concert: Dear Youth

Dear Youth, Doyoung's debut solo performance took place at the Kyung Hee University Peace Hall in Seoul over three days from May 25 to March 27, 2024. The term 'Dear Youth' for the concert alludes to a unique moment and place where today's youth may momentarily escape reality and cherish moments with the K-pop idol.

Fans were excitedly anticipating his solo performance, and Pearl Neo Champagne, the official NCT color, lit up the stage like a wave. The crowd sang every song in unison, showing off their talents at interactive parts like Time Machine and Star Blossom, moving Doyoung with their flawless harmony.
