More about Kim Namjoon's song Still Life (feat. Anderson .Paak)
Kim Namjoon, also known as RM, previewed each song during an interview on the TongTongCulture YouTube channel. He explained that his song Still Life (feat. Anderson .Paak) was inspired by Korean artist Yun's Still Life painting, which resonated with him both literally and metaphorically.
Initially, the BTS Frontman misunderstood "still life" to mean life continuing endlessly but later learned its true meaning. As a non-native English speaker, he used the term figuratively in the song to express his determination to pursue his passions and live a fulfilling life despite obstacles.
The song Still Life focuses on moving ahead and eschewing stagnation or boundaries in one's self-definition. Namjoon elucidated that the notion originated from his observation when visiting a museum overseas, where several paintings bore the English term "still life."
Meanwhile, in the track's official music video, RM continues to carve out his own path, using the song's lyrics to metaphorically portray the need for change. RM continues to write in his notebook at the end of the song, implying that he still intends to pursue his career as an artist to the max.
In other news, RM is currently serving in the South Korean military since December 11, 2023. He released his second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, on May 24, 2024, via BIGHIT MUSIC.
